The Apostolic Nunciature to Kenya is an ecclesiastical office of the Catholic Church in Kenya. It is a diplomatic post of the Holy See, whose representative is called the Apostolic Nuncio with the rank of an ambassador. Diplomatic relations between the Holy See and Kenya were established in November 1965, following the proclamation of the Republic of Kenya on 12 December 1964. Giovanni Tonucci
Giovanni Tonucci (born 4 December 1941 in Fano, PU, Italy) is an Italian archbishop of the Catholic Church. He worked in the diplomatic service of the Holy See from 1971 until his retirement in 2017. Diplomatic career From 1971 till the end of 1973 his diplomatic career took him to Yaoundé, Cameroon, then, from 1974 to 1976 to the United Kingdom. From July 1976 he was back in Rome, assigned to the Section for General Affairs of the Holy See Secretariat of State where he worked with Agostino Casaroli, until being transferred, in April 1978, to the Section for the Relations with States under Achille Silvestrini. At the end of the 1984 he was assigned to the Apostolic Nunciature in Belgrade, at that time still the Yugoslavia, where he worked until the summer of 1987 when he was transferred to the Nunicature to the United States in Washington. This is a list of diplomatic missions of the Holy See. Since the fifth century, long before the founding of the Vatican City State in 1929, papal envoys (now known as nuncios) have represented the Holy See to foreign potentates. Additionally, papal representatives known not as nuncios but as apostolic delegates ensure contact between the Holy See and the Catholic Church in countries that do not have diplomatic relations with the Holy See. Hubertus Matheus Maria van Megen (born 4 October 1961) is a Dutch prelate of the Catholic Church who works in the diplomatic service of the Holy See. Biography Hubertus van Megen was born on 4 October 1961 in Eygelshoven, the Netherlands. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Roermond on 13 June 1987. Charles Daniel Balvo (born June 29, 1951) is an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church who has been serving in diplomatic service of the Holy See since 1987. His current posting is as apostolic nuncio to Australia. He has been an apostolic nuncio and archbishop since 2005. Biography Early years A native of Brooklyn, Balvo grew up in Suffern, New York, where he graduated from Sacred Heart School. Alain Paul Charles Lebeaupin (2 March 1945 – 24 June 2021) was a French prelate of the Catholic Church who joined the diplomatic service of the Holy See in 1979 and was the Apostolic Nuncio to the European Union from 2012 to 2020. Early life Lebeaupin was born in Paris on 2 March 1945 and was ordained a priest on 28 June 1975 for the Diocese of Nice after studying at the Pontifical French Seminary in Rome. Clemente Faccani (19 October 1920 – 15 September 2011) was an Italian prelate of the Catholic Church who worked in the diplomatic service of the Holy See. Biography Faccani was born in Lugo, Italy, and was ordained a priest on 10 April 1943. He earned degrees in canon and civil law. To prepare for a diplomatic career he entered the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy in 1953. Giuseppe Ferraioli (20 December 1929 – 31 January 2000) was an Italian prelate of the Catholic Church who worked in the diplomatic service of the Holy See. Biography Giuseppe Ferraioli was born on 20 December 1929 in Rome. He was ordained a priest on 8 December 1954. To prepare for a diplomat’s career he entered the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy in 1957. On 16 June 1976, Pope Paul VI named him Apostolic Pro-nuncio to Ghana. Cardinal Secretary of State Jean-Marie Villot consecrated him a bishop on 27 June. On 25 August 1979, Ferraioli was given the additional responsibilities of Apostolic Pro-Nuncio to Benin and Apostolic Delegate to Togo.
