The Apostolic Nunciature to Hungary is an ecclesiastical office of the Catholic Church in Hungary. It is a diplomatic post of the Holy See, whose representative is called the Apostolic Nuncio with the rank of an ambassador. Juliusz Janusz
Juliusz Janusz (born 17 March 1944) is a Polish prelate of the Catholic Church who has spent his career in the diplomatic service of the Holy See. He has been an archbishop and held the position of Apostolic Nuncio from 1995 until he retired in 2018. Biography Juliusz Janusz was born on 17 March 1944 in Łyczana, Poland. He was ordained a priest on 19 March 1967 by Karol Wojtyła, Archbishop of Krakow, later Pope John Paul II. He went to Rome with the intention of earning a degree in canon law but at Wojtyła's urging entered the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy to prepare for a career as a diplomat. Michael Wallace Banach (born November 19, 1962) is an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church who has worked in the diplomatic service of the Holy See since 1994. He has been apostolic nuncio to Hungary since May 2022. He has served as an observer at a United Nations agency and as apostolic nuncio to several nations in Asia and Africa. Michael August Blume (born May 30, 1946) is an American prelate of the Catholic Church who worked in the Roman Curia from 1995 to 2005 and then in the diplomatic service of the Holy See as an Apostolic Nuncio until retiring at the end of 2021. Biography Michael August Blume was born on August 30, 1946, in South Bend, Indiana. A member of the Society of the Divine Word, he was ordained a priest on December 23, 1972, by Auxiliary Bishop Joseph Crowley in the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend, Indiana. Alberto Bottari De Castello
Alberto Bottari de Castello (born 5 July 1942) is an Italian prelate of the Catholic Church who spent his career in the diplomatic service of the Holy See. Biography Alberto Bottari de Castello was born in Montebelluna, Province of Treviso in northern Italy, on 5 July 1942. He was ordained a priest on 11 September 1966. He prepared for a diplomatic career by completing the course of study at the Pontifical Ecclesiastical Academy in 1969. On 18 December 1999, Pope John Paul II named him a titular archbishop and nuncio to Gambia, Guinea, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. He was consecrated a bishop on 6 January 2000. Karl-Josef Rauber
Karl-Josef Rauber (11 April 1934 – 26 March 2023) was a German prelate of the Catholic Church who served as an apostolic nuncio from 1982 until his retirement in 2009. He was created a cardinal by Pope Francis in 2015. Biography After graduating from St.-Michaels-Gymnasium of Metten Abbey in 1950, Rauber studied Catholic theology and philosophy at the University of Mainz. On 28 February 1959, he was ordained in Mainz Cathedral by Bishop Albert Stohr. Angelo Acerbi (born 23 September 1925) is an Italian prelate of the Catholic Church, who has been an archbishop since 1974 and served in the diplomatic service of the Holy See as the Apostolic Nuncio to New Zealand, the Netherlands, Colombia, Hungary, and Moldova. Angelo Rotta
Angelo Rotta (9 August 1872 – 1 February 1965) was an Italian prelate of the Catholic Church. As the Apostolic Nuncio in Budapest at the end of World War II, he was involved in the rescue of the Jews of Budapest from the Nazi Holocaust.
