Apostolic Church Nigeria
The Apostolic Church Nigeria is a Pentecostal Christian denomination in Nigeria with its national headquarters at Olorunda Ketu, Lagos and international headquarters in Penygroes, UK. History The church has its origins in the founding of a prayer group called "Precious Stone" in Ijebu Ode by the Anglican leader Joseph Shadare in 1918. In 1922, the church left the Anglican Church. The church joined the Apostolic Church in 1931. In 1938, the denomination counted 120 churches in Nigeria. In 2011, the denomination inaugurated a 10,000-seat temple called National Temple in Lagos. In 2018, the church had 4.5 million members in Nigeria. Doctrine and belief The Apostolic Church Nigeria is built on a fundamental doctrinal belief based on the Holy Scriptures. Samuel Gbadebo Adegboyega, MON (1 April 1896 – 23 October 1979) was a Nigerian Christian clergyman widely regarded as one of the founding fathers of Pentecostalism in Nigeria. He is the first territorial chairman of the Lagos and Western/Northern Areas Territory (LAWNA) field of The Apostolic Church Nigeria. Life Born into a royal family from Owu Kingdom in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria, Adegboyega attended Methodist High School, Abeokuta where he completed his secondary education. Ogwa
Ogwa is a town in Esan West Local Government Area in Edo State, Nigeria. It is among the constituent communities of Esanland. The people of Ogwa speak the Esan language. The language of the Esan people shares the same name as the name of the land itself. Esan and Ishan are interchangeably used to refer to the same place, language and people. Ishan is the anglicized variant for Esan. The Ogwa people in Edo State identify themselves as Esan or Ishan people. Ogwa has four clans: Eguare, Ukpogu, Izogen and Eha. These clans are headed by most elderly men in each of them. The name Ogwa is used to identify more than one place in Nigeria. To avoid confusion, it is better to identify it with their region. Samuel Adegboyega University (SAU) is located in Ogwa, Edo State, Nigeria, West Africa.
