Apopka-Vineland Road is the name of several roads in Orange County, Florida, roughly forming a line from Apopka, Florida, Apopka south to Vineland, Florida, Vineland. As of now, there is one gap, from Old Winter Garden Road to Florida State Road 50, State Road 50 (Colonial Drive), which contains a residential neighborhood and State Road 408 (Florida), State Road 408, the tolled East-West Expressway. The majority of the route is designated, but not always signed, as County Road 435 (CR 435). A small segment of CR 435, from SR 50 to SR 438 (FL), SR 438, runs along the parallel Hiawassee Road just to the east. Vineland is an Unincorporated area, unincorporated community in southwest Orange County, Florida, Orange County, Florida, United States, located just north of Interstate 4 along State Road 535 (Florida), State Road 535 and continues along County Road 435 (Orange), County Road 435, which is South Apopka Vineland Road. The name is no longer often used since the more well-known Lake Buena Vista, Florida, City of Lake Buena Vista lies just to the south and west. State Road 46 (SR 46) is an east–west route in central Florida, running from U.S. Route 441 (US 441) in Mount Dora to US 1 in Mims. Along the way, it crosses the Wekiva River and, further east, the St. Johns River near the Econlockhatchee River. County Road 46 continues west from the western terminus to County Road Old 441 in Mount Dora. Lake County, Florida
Lake County is a county in the central portion of the U.S. state of Florida. As of the 2020 census, the population was 383,956. Its county seat is Tavares, and its largest city is Clermont. Lake County is included in the Orlando-Kissimmee- Sanford, FL Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Lake County was created in 1887 from portions of Sumter and Orange counties. It was named for the many lakes contained within its borders (250 named lakes and 1,735 other bodies of water). SR 50 (FL)
State Road 50 (SR 50) runs across the center of the U.S. state of Florida through Orlando, with its termini at SR 55 (US 19) at Weeki Wachee and SR 5 (U.S. Route 1) in Titusville. SR 50 is signed east–west. Within various counties throughout the state, the highway is signed with various names such as Cortez Boulevard in Hernando County and Colonial Drive in Orange County. The former section includes the concurrency with US 98 between Brooksville and near Ridge Manor. US 98-SR 50 is the only interchange with Interstate 75 in Hernando County. SR 435 (FL)
State Road 435 (SR 435), signed as Kirkman Road along its entire route, is a state highway in Florida, existing entirely within Orange County. Kirkman Road is a major arterial on the west side of Orlando, and bounds the east side of Universal Orlando Resort. It also connects on its south end into a Lockheed Martin research facility. Route description Kirkman Road begins at a trumpet interchange with Sand Lake Road. Not too long after, Kirkman Road intersects International Drive, followed by an interchange with Interstate 4 (I-4), and one of the entrances to Universal Orlando Resort. West Orange Trail
The West Orange Trail is a long multi-use rail trail owned by Orange County Parks and Recreation in Orange County, Florida, in the United States. The paved trail passes through downtown Oakland, Winter Garden, and Apopka with most of its length built on old railroad alignments. To the west of the West Orange Trail is the South Lake-Lake Minneola Scenic Trail in Lake County which was connected to the trail in 2007. Stations There are four main stations on the West Orange Trail, each providing parking, restroom facilities, bike racks and drinking fountains. All have picnic tables and playground and some with concession stands. Bike and skates rental are available at the Killarney Station. The Chapin Station has a basketball court and tennis courts. Florida Midland Railroad (defunct)
The Florida Midland Railway Company was incorporated under the general incorporation laws of Florida, and surveyed a line from Lake Jessup, in Orange County, to Leesburg, in Lake County. History The company was reincorporated on February 10, 1885; only had been graded. The new owners were E. W. Henck, S. M. Breuster, Carl Cushing, A. Menser and C. E. Munson of Florida, and Edward Page, Charles W. Morris and Cyrus Carpenter of Boston, Massachusetts. The line was extended Land grants were promised, as long as part of the railroad was completed within a year. Florida state law chapter 3795, approved June 2, 1887, expanded the area from which land grants could be chosen, and extended the deadline to June 1, 1888.
