Apex Oval
Apex Oval, also known as Caltex Park is a sports ground located in the city of Dubbo, New South Wales, Australia. The ground is managed by the Dubbo City Council and is located within the East Dubbo Sporting Complex. Opened in 2005, the Bruce Neads Memorial Grandstand has spectator seating for 1,340, as well as function rooms and other facilities. The ground has lighting and a capacity of around 11,500. As well as local sports, it has also played host to pre-season NRL games and the City vs Country Origin rugby league game in 2006. The City vs Country game was a huge success, achieving a record attendance of over 11,423 people. An impressive feat considering Dubbo has a population of around 40,000. The ground is home for the Dubbo CYMS Group 11 rugby league team. It is also one of the home grounds for the NSW Country Eagles team that plays in the National Rugby Championship. Group 11 Rugby League
Group 11 is a rugby league competition in the surrounding areas of Dubbo, New South Wales, Australia. The competition is played in four grades, these being First-Grade, Reserve-Grade, Under 19s and Ladies League Tag. Current clubs First grade and under 18s sides of Group 11 Clubs play in the Peter McDonald Premiership alongside Group 10 clubs. From the 2022 season, Group 11 will only officially field reserve and women's league tag competitions, although a Group 11 Premier will still be crowned in First Grade and Under 18s, with this being the best team in the Group 11 Pool of the Peter McDonald Premiership. National Rugby Championship
The National Rugby Championship, known as NRC, was an Australian rugby union competition. It was contested by eight teams, seven from Australia and one from Fiji. The tournament ran from 2014 until 2019 before being disbanded in 2020 following the change of the Australian rugby TV broadcasting deal from Fox Sports, who had funded the competition, to Stan Sport. The 2020 competition was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Format The National Rugby Championship was usually held between late August and early November. City vs Country Origin was an annual Australian rugby league football match that took place in New South Wales between City and Country representative sides. The City side represented the Sydney metropolitan area. While technically it was Sydney vs. the rest of NSW, players from the Central Coast (such as Matt Orford and Mark O'Meley) often represented City, but other players from the Central Coast (such as Chris Heighington) represented Country. The Country side represented the rest of New South Wales. The concept of an annual clash between a City and Country team originally started in 1911 with a Metropolitan side taking on the Country team.
