''Apaimanee Saga'' ( th, อภัยมณี ซาก้า) is a Thai comic series written and illustrated by Supot A. It was originally serialized in Thailand in NED Comics' magazine ''Boom''. The story was adapted from the Thai epic poem '' Phra Aphai Mani'' by Sunthorn Phu, a legendary poet. ''Apaimanee Saga'' is the first Thai comic that has been published in french language. Supot Anawatkochakorn ( th, สุพจน์ อนวัชกชกร, born May 11, 1972), also known under the pen name Supot A, is a Thai comics artist. He is best known for creating the fantasy comics ''Apaimanee Saga'', published in NED Comics' magazine ''Boom'' from 2001 to 2006. ''Apaimanee Saga'' is the first Thai comic series published in Western countries, such as France under the title ''Apai Saga'' by Milan in 2007. It was also adapted in animation and video game. Profile Supot Anawatkochakorn has a long established relation with NED Comics' magazine ''Boom'' where he published his first comic series named ''Search''. If the first series remains unfinished, its second part named ''Search 2'' was fully completed. Thai comics are comics written and produced in Thailand. History According to Thai media historian Anake Nawigamune( เอนก นาวิกมูล), the first example of Siamese comics art was published around 1906 in an issue of Samran Wittaya ( สำราญวิทยา) Enjoyable Knowledge], a publication founded by British-educated Kru Liam ( ครูเหลี่ยม). The graphic sequence composed of two drawings depicting a conflict between a Chinese pork seller and a dog, illustrated by a short riddle in a form of a poem. Phra Aphai Mani
Phra Aphai Mani is a 48,700-line Epic poetry, epic poem composed by Thai poet Sunthorn Phu ( th, สุนทรภู่), who is known as "the Bard of Rattanakosin" ( th, กวีเอกแห่งกรุงรัตนโกสินทร์). It is considered to be one of Thailand's national epics. With 48,686 couplets, it is listed as the longest Thai single poem. Suthorn Phu started working on this epic fantasy from 1822 and finished in 1844; took 22 years. It is also one of well-known Thai folklores that has been heavily adapted into films and comics. The main protagonists are Prince Aphai Mani, the mermaid, and the Pisue Samutra; a female yaksha, ogress who can transmute herself into a beautiful girl. Sunthorn Phu
Phra Sunthorn Vohara (Phu) ( th, พระสุนทรโวหาร (ภู่), , ; 26 June 1786 – 1855), known as Sunthorn Phu ( th, สุนทรภู่, , ), is Thailand's best-known royal poet. He wrote during the Rattanakosin period. Phu's career as a royal poet began in the reign of King Rama II, and when the king died, he resigned from the role and became a monk. Twenty years later, in the reign of King Rama III, he returned to court as a royal scribe, where he remained for the rest of his life. Phu was renowned for composing verse, and his epic poetry is popular in Thailand to the present day. His works include ''Nirat Phukhao Thong'', a collection of poems recounting his journey to the Golden Mountain; ''Nirat Suphan'', his journey to Suphan Buri province; and the ''Phra Aphai Mani'' saga. Krabi Krabong
Krabi ( th, กระบี่, ) is the main town in the province of Krabi (''thesaban mueang'') on the west coast of southern Thailand at the mouth of the Krabi River where it empties in Phang Nga Bay.
