The Wilaya of Timimoun () is an Algerian province created in 2019, previously, a delegated wilaya created in 2015. It is in the Algerian Sahara. Geography The wilaya of Timimoun is in the Algerian Sahara; its area is 131,220 km² . Aougrout ( ar, أوﻗﺮت) is a commune in Aougrout District, Adrar Province, in south-central Algeria. According to the 2008 census it has a population of 11,784, up from 9,878 in 1998, with an annual growth rate of 1.8%. Geography The population center of Aougrout commune is centered on an oasis located in the southern part of the Gourara region, northeast of the provincial capital Adrar. Most of the villages of the commune are located on the eastern side of the oasis. Most of the region surrounding the oasis is a flat rocky plain (a ''reg''), but some low hills rise to the east and south-east. Climate Aougrout has a hot desert climate (Köppen climate classification ''BWh''), with extremely hot summers and mild winters, and very little precipitation throughout the year. Deldoul ( ar, دﻟﺪول) is a commune in Aougrout District, Adrar Province, in south-central Algeria. According to the 2008 census it has a population of 8,647, up from 7,465 in 1998, with an annual growth rate of 1.5%. Geography Deldoul commune is centered on a set of oases in the south-central Gourara region of northern Adrar Province, southwest of Timimoun, southeast of Charouine, west of Aougrout and northeast of Metarfa. Metarfa ( ar, المطارفة) is a town and commune in Aougrout District, Adrar Province, in south-central Algeria. According to the 2008 census it has a population of 8,438, up from 7,061 in 1998, with an annual growth rate of 1.8%. Geography The villages in Metarfa commune are built near various scattered oases in the southern part of the Gourara region of northern Adrar Province, about halfway between Timimoun and Adrar.
