Aosta Valley (political Coalition)
Aosta Valley (''Vallée d'Aoste'', VdA) is a regionalist coalition of parties active in Aosta Valley, Italy. Under this banner, with some variations, the Valdostan Union (UV) has participated in Italian general elections, along with its allies (sometimes also countrywide parties), which have changed from time to time, since 1983. Since its foundation, the list has won most of the races for both houses of the Italian Parliament (see parliamentary delegations from Aosta Valley). The original allies of the UV within VdA were the Progressive Democratic Autonomists (ADP), formed at the merger of the Popular Democrats (PD) and the Progressive Valdostan Union (UVP). In 2006, the UV, Edelweiss (SA) and the Autonomist Federation (FA) formed a coalition also in regional government. Regionalism (politics)
Regionalism is a political ideology that seeks to increase the political power, influence, and/or self-determination of the people of one or more subnational regions. It focuses on the "development of a political or social system based on one or more" regions and/or the national, normative or economic interests of a specific region, group of regions or another subnational entity, gaining strength from or aiming to strengthen the "consciousness of and loyalty to a distinct region with a homogeneous population", similarly to nationalism. Edelweiss (political Party)
Edelweiss ( it, Stella Alpina, SA) is a regionalist, Christian-democratic political party active in Aosta Valley, Italy. The party's founder and longest-serving leader was Maurizio Martin. Currently, it is led by Ronny Bobey and Luisa Trione. Leading members have included Rudi Marguerettaz (party secretary in 2001–2013 and member of the Chamber of Deputies in 2013–2018), Pierluigi Marquis (President of Aosta Valley in 2017, later switched to another party) and Carlo Marzi (party secretary since 2016 and regional minister since 2020). Italian Communist Party
The Italian Communist Party ( it, Partito Comunista Italiano, PCI) was a communist political party in Italy. The PCI was founded as ''Communist Party of Italy'' on 21 January 1921 in Livorno by seceding from the Italian Socialist Party (PSI). Amadeo Bordiga, Antonio Gramsci, and Nicola Bombacci led the split. Outlawed during the Fascist regime, the party played a major role in the Italian resistance movement. It changed its name in 1943 to PCI and became the second largest political party of Italy after World War II, attracting the support of about a third of the vote share during the 1970s. The Democrats of the Left ( it, Democratici di Sinistra, DS) was a social-democratic political party in Italy. Valdostan Renewal
Valdostan Renewal (french: Renouveau Valdôtain, RV) was a social-liberal Italian political party active in the Aosta Valley. It was founded in 2006 by a split from the Valdostan Union (UV), led by former President of Region Carlo Perrin. These dissidents wanted closer ties with the Italian centre-left parties of The Union. In the 2006 general election, RV was affiliated to the Autonomy Liberty Democracy (ALD) coalition, composed of the Democrats of the Left, The Daisy, Alé Vallée, Vallée d'Aoste Vive, the Communist Refoundation Party, the Federation of the Greens and other minor parties. ALD elected Roberto Rolando Nicco of the Democrats of the Left to the Chamber of Deputies and Carlo Perrin to the Senate. Autonomy Liberty Democracy
Autonomy Liberty Democracy (''Autonomie Liberté Démocratie'', ALD) was a centre-left coalition in Aosta Valley, Italy. It took part to three Italian general elections and elected representatives in both houses of the Italian Parliament. History ALD was originally formed as an electoral list, affiliated to The Union, for the 2006 general election comprising: the Democrats of the Left (DS), The Daisy (DL), Valdostan Renewal (RV), Vallée d'Aoste Vive (VdAV), Alé Vallée (AV), the Communist Refoundation Party (PRC), the Federation of the Greens (Alternative Greens) and other minor parties. United Aosta Valley
Mouv', whose complete name is United Aosta Valley – Mouv' (french: Vallée d'Aoste Unie–Mouv'), is a progressive political party active in Aosta Valley, Italy. The party was launched in March 2017 as a split from the Progressive Valdostan Union (UVP). History In June 2016 the UVP joined the regional government led by UV's Augusto Rollandin, fueling rumors of a re-unification with the UV.
