Aníbal Rodríguez
Aníbal Rodríguez Herrera (1868 - c.1930) was a Chilean political figure, who served several times as minister. He was born the son of Juan Esteban Rodríguez Segura and of Ignacia Herrera. While he was still a university student, from 1886 to 1891, he worked as a civil servant on the Ministry of the Interior. He graduated as a lawyer from the Universidad de Chile on January 9, 1891. He married Rosa Velasco Martínez, and after her death, he married for a second time her sister, Graciela Velasco Martínez. In 1895 he was named secretary of the Council of State, position he held until 1899, when he became a temporary under-secretary of the Interior, where he worked very closely with future President Pedro Montt. Between 1901 and 1902, he was also Intendant of Tarapacá. While there, he also worked as a teacher at the Liceo de Iquique. ''Belisario'' (''Belisarius'') is a ''tragedia lirica'' (tragic opera) in three acts by Gaetano Donizetti. Salvadore Cammarano wrote the Italian libretto after Luigi Marchionni's adaptation of play, ''Belisarius'', first staged in Munich in 1820 and then (in Italian) in Naples in 1826. The plot is loosely based on the life of the famous general Belisarius of the 6th century Byzantine Empire. It premiered to critical and popular success on 4 February 1836 at the Teatro La Fenice, Venice, and was given many additional performances that season,Osborne 1994, pp. 245-248 although Donizetti scholar William Ashbrook notes that there would have been more had the opera not been presented so late in the season. Enrique Bermúdez
Enrique Bermúdez Varela (December 11, 1932 – February 16, 1991), known as Comandante 380, was a Nicaraguan soldier and rebel who founded and commanded the Nicaraguan Contras. In this capacity, he became a central global figure in one of the most prominent conflicts of the Cold War. Bermúdez founded the largest Contra army in the war against Nicaragua's Marxist Sandinista government, which was supported by the Soviet Union and Cuba. From 1979 until the end of the military conflict in 1990, Bermudez was the Contras' top military commander. In addition to being responsible for all of the Contras' military operations, Bermúdez ultimately helped manage the Contras' transition to an opposition political party in the early 1990s after the second election in post-Somoza Nicaragua ended in defeat for the Sandinistas.
