Anywhere (New Musik Album)
''Anywhere'' is the second album from New Musik released on 6 March 1981. The cassette edition of the album contained two extra songs not present on the vinyl copies. A digitally remastered version called ''Anywhere... Plus'' was released in 2001. Two singles were released in the United Kingdom, "Luxury" on 30 January 1981 and "While You Wait" on 3 April 1981. "Areas" has been covered by alternative rock band The Gathering on their 2013 album '' Afterwords''. Track listing All songs written and composed by Tony Mansfield unless noted. The Gathering (band)
The Gathering is a Dutch rock band, founded in 1989 by brothers Hans and René Rutten and vocalist Bart Smits in Oss, North Brabant. The Gathering earliest releases were categorized as atmospheric doom metal with influences from extreme metal acts like Celtic Frost and Hellhammer. In 1998, with the release of their fifth studio album ''How to Measure a Planet?'', they had a major shift in musical style, with the group acknowledging the growing influence of shoegazing, post-rock, experimental rock and the more ethereal sounds of 4AD bands, such as Dead Can Dance, Cocteau Twins, as well as Pink Floyd, Radiohead and Massive Attack; they expanded their sound, which acquired characteristics of progressive, alternative rock, and trip hop and gained success and recognition beyond the European borders. Tony Hibbert (born 6 December 1956) is an English musician who played bass guitar in the synthpop band, New Musik, from 1977 to 1981. He was born in Tooting, London. He played with New Musik on '' From A to B'' (1980) and '' Anywhere'' (1981), but later retired from the music industry. After his leaving, there was not a bass guitar used on the New Musik's third and final album, ''Warp''. In 1980, he played on Bruce Cockburn's album, ''Humans''. Clive Gates (born 11 March 1956, Westminster, London) is a British musician who was the keyboardist and synthesizer player of the synthpop band New Musik from 1979 until 1982, replacing original member Nick Straker who left to form the Nick Straker Band. Gates remained as a member of the New Musik until they split up. Gates is a classically trained pianist. He knew Tony Mansfield in 1972, performing with him in a T. Rex and King Crimson oriented band called Reeman Zeegus. ''Afterwords '' is an album by the Dutch rock band The Gathering, released via Psychonaut Records on 25 October 2013. It is referred to as either a studio album or a remix album, containing remakes of five songs from ''Disclosure'', but the band consider ''Afterwords'' more like an EP. Drummer Hans Rutten has stated, "We all see ''Disclosure'' as our last studio album, and ''Afterwords'' was more or less a ''Disclosure'' after-party... New Musik
New Musik were an English synthpop group active from 1977 to 1982. Led by Tony Mansfield, they achieved success in 1980 with the top 20 single " Living by Numbers" which was followed up with the top 40 hits "This World of Water", "Sanctuary" and hit album '' From A to B''. History New Musik formed in 1977 in London, growing out of a casual band of South London school friends who jammed together under the name End of the World. ''Smash Hits'' was a British music magazine aimed at young adults, originally published by EMAP. It ran from 1978 to 2006, and, after initially appearing monthly, was issued fortnightly during most of that time. The name survived as a brand for a Spin-off (media), spin-off Smash Hits (TV channel), digital television channel, now named Box Hits, and website.
