Anything (The Damned Song)
"Anything" is a single by English rock band the Damned, released on 6 November 1986 by MCA Records. Previewing the group's new album of the same name, the song saw a slight move away from the Goth rock of ''Phantasmagoria'', to a more mainstream rock sound. The single received lukewarm reviews, and considering the success of the previous album and " Eloise", its UK Singles Chart peak of No. 32 was seen as a disappointment. MCA also issued the single in Ireland and Australia. The Damned (band)
The Damned are an English punk rock band formed in London in 1976 by lead vocalist Dave Vanian, guitarist Brian James, bassist (and later guitarist) Captain Sensible, and drummer Rat Scabies. They were the first punk band from the United Kingdom to release a single, "New Rose" (1976), release a studio album, ''Damned Damned Damned'' (1977), and tour the United States. They have nine singles that charted on the UK Singles Chart Top 40. The band briefly broke up after '' Music for Pleasure'' (1977), the follow-up to their debut studio album, was critically dismissed. They quickly reformed without Brian James, and released ''Machine Gun Etiquette'' (1979). In the 1980s they released four studio albums, '' The Black Album'' (1980), ''Strawberries'' (1982), ''Phantasmagoria'' (1985), and ''Anything'' (1986), which saw the band moving towards a gothic rock style. Dave Vanian
David Vanian (born David Lett, 12 October 1956) is an English rock musician, and lead singer of the punk rock band the Damned. Formed in 1976 in London, the Damned were the first British punk band to release a single, release an album, have a record hit the UK charts, and tour the United States. With a fluid line-up since their founding, Vanian has been the only ever-present member. Vanian's baritone singing voice, dark lyrics and vampire-themed costumes, were a major influence on the goth subculture. Career Born in Newcastle upon Tyne, North East England, Vanian moved with his parents to Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire when he was a couple of months old. The bass guitar, electric bass or simply bass (), is the lowest-pitched member of the string family. It is a plucked string instrument similar in appearance and construction to an electric or an acoustic guitar, but with a longer neck and scale length, and typically four to six strings or courses. Since the mid-1950s, the bass guitar has largely replaced the double bass in popular music. Bryn Merrick
Bryn Merrick (12 October 1958 – 12 September 2015) was a bassist who was a member of Cardiff-based punk band Victimize. He later joined the Damned between 1983 and 1989, replacing Paul Gray, who had left for UFO. Merrick's first release with the Damned was the single "Thanks for the Night" b/w "Nasty". He was the Damned's bassist on the albums ''Phantasmagoria'' (1985) and ''Anything'' (1986). Merrick played with the Shamones, a Ramones tribute band that toured the UK for five years, until splitting in August 2015. Guitar

Roman Jugg
Roman Jugg (born 25 July 1957 in Caerphilly, South Wales) is a keyboard player and guitarist. He began his career in the Welsh punk band Victimize in the late 1970s. An acquaintance of Paul Gray, Jugg was originally hired in late 1981, recording various projects for The Damned, Naz Nomad and the Nightmares and David Vanian and the Phantom Chords. Jugg's alias during his Naz gigs was Sphinx Svenson. After Captain Sensible left The Damned in 1984, Jugg moved from keyboards to main guitar and became a full member on the studio albums ''Phantasmagoria'' (1985) and ''Anything'' (1986). After the 1989 breakup of The Damned he continued to work with Dave Vanian and Bryn Merrick, forming The Phantom Chords.
