Anything (SWV Song)
"Anything" is a song recorded by American R&B vocal trio SWV for their debut studio album, ''It's About Time'' (1992) and the soundtrack to the 1994 film ''Above the Rim''. It was written and produced by Brian Alexander Morgan. Originally featured on ''It's About Time,'' the song was later remixed to be featured on the ''Above the Rim'' soundtrack. This resulted in the song's shifting from a slow, R&B ballad to a faster, new jack swing record (which is labelled the "Old Skool Mix") and features U-God, Ol' Dirty Bastard, and Method Man from the Wu-Tang Clan). Method Man’s final verse incorporates a brief sample of Wu-Tang Clan’s 1994 single “C.R.E.A.M.”. ''It's About Time'' is the debut studio album by American female R&B trio SWV. It was released by RCA Records on October 27, 1992, in the United States. It earned 11 ''Billboard'' Music Award nominations and became the 16th best-selling album of 1993 in the United States, with 2,100,000 copies sold according to Nielsen SoundScan. It also earned SWV a nomination for Best New Artist at the 36th Grammy Awards. In 1996, ''It's About Time'' was certified 3× platinum, for shipping over 3,000,000 albums in the US alone. Wu-Tang Clan
Wu-Tang Clan is an American hip hop group formed in Staten Island, New York City, in 1992. Its original members include RZA, GZA, Ol' Dirty Bastard, Method Man, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, U-God, and Masta Killa. Close affiliate Cappadonna later became an official member. Joseph Lewis Thomas (born July 5, 1972), known mononymously as Joe, is an American R&B singer-songwriter and record producer. Born and raised in Ashburn, Georgia, he later relocated to Atlanta and signed a record deal with Polygram Records in 1992. En Vogue is an American vocal girl group whose original lineup consisted of singers Terry Ellis, Dawn Robinson, Cindy Herron, and Maxine Jones. James Hamilton (DJ And Journalist)
James Hamilton (25 December 1942 – 17 June 1996) was a British DJ and dance music columnist for ''Record Mirror'', and later for ''Music Week'', where he worked until his death in 1996. He is recognised as a pioneering advocate of disco mixing in the UK and the addition of beats per minute (bpm) calculations to record reviews. Hamilton started as a DJ in his early 20s, playing rhythm & blues in a nightclubs in London. He then headed to New York to work for Seltaeb, the US company who’d acquired the merchandising rights for The Beatles, becoming a talent scout for their newly formed music division. After returning to the UK, he adopted the DJ name Doctor Soul, and also compiled an album with this title for Sue Records. "Right Here" is the debut single of American R&B girl group SWV. It was released on August 20, 1992, as the lead single from their debut album, '' It's About Time'' (1992). A remixed version, referred to as "Right Here (Human Nature Remix)" and based around a sample of Michael Jackson's 1982 song "Human Nature", was released in July 1993, and charted on the US ''Billboard'' charts as a double-A-side with "Downtown". This version became a number-one R&B single, selling 1,000,000 copies and earning a platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). In 2003, ''Q Magazine'' ranked the Human Nature Remix of the song at number 651 in their list of the "1001 Best Songs Ever" and in 2017, ''Billboard'' named it number 17 on their list of "100 Greatest Girl Group Songs of All Time".
