Anurudda Polonowita
Anurudda "Anura" Polonowita (born 23 July 1938) is a former cricketer who played for Ceylon from 1960 to 1969. He later became a prominent cricket administrator and groundsman. In September 2018, he was one of 49 former Sri Lankan cricketers felicitated by Sri Lanka Cricket, to honour them for their services before Sri Lanka became a full member of the International Cricket Council (ICC). Early life and playing career Polonowita attended Ananda College, where he played in the first XI for five years. In his final year, 1958, he captained the team and took 80 wickets in nine matches with his left-arm spin. On his first-class debut he took 5 for 45 in the first innings of the Gopalan Trophy match in 1959–60. In the Gopalan Trophy match in 1960-61 he took 4 for 16 in each innings (match figures of 29.4–14–32–8) to help Ceylon to a 169-run victory. Nomads Sports Club
Nomads Sports Club is a former first-class cricket team in Sri Lanka. Nomads are one of the oldest Sri Lankan cricket teams. They won the P Sara Trophy in 1964-65 and 1967-68 in the days before the competition had first-class status. They competed in the first-class competition in 1988-89 and 1994-95. Of their 12 matches they won one, lost five and drew six. They played their home matches at Viharamahadevi Park, Colombo. They continue to compete at sub-first-class levels. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). The Colombo Municipal Council is the municipal governing body of Colombo, the largest city and financial centre in Sri Lanka.
