Anu Ramdas
Anu Ramdas (born 26 January 1980) is an artist, teacher and researcher based in Copenhagen, Denmark. She studied at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, the Department of Experimental Art at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing, China, and at Malmø Art Academy. Ramdas´ work seems to always take its point of departure in lens-based technology unfolding her ideas through various mediums such as; sound, text, performance, drawing, film and photography. She employs advanced meditation techniques to access the multi-dimensional archive of her own unconscious mind and explores the complexity that lies between the idea and the sensed; negotiating the values of the detectable and the undetectable. In her series ''Parent Bodies'' she reads her own body as an agent of the light sensitive material and translates this data into hand drawn blueprints that serve for future three dimensional and time-based works. The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts ( da, Det Kongelige Danske Kunstakademi - Billedkunst Skolerne) has provided education in the arts for more than 250 years, playing its part in the development of the art of Denmark. History The Royal Danish Academy of Portraiture, Sculpture, and Architecture in Copenhagen was inaugurated on 31 March 1754, and given as a gift to the King Frederik V on his 31st birthday. Its name was changed to the Royal Danish Academy of Painting, Sculpture, and Architecture in 1771. At the same event, Johann Friedrich Struensee introduced a new scheme in the academy to encourage artisan apprentices to take supplementary classes in drawing so as to develop the notion of "good taste". Baogang Tailings Dam
Baogang Tailings Dam, also known as the Baotou Tailings Dam or Weikuang Dam, is a tailings dam in Inner Mongolia, China, on the outer ring of the city of Baotou, about 20 kilometres from the city centre. The dam is filled with tailings and waste slurry from nearby rare earth mineral refinery plants. Accounts of the tailings dam appeared in western media outlets after a visit in 2015 by British writers Tim Maughan, Liam Young and Kate Davies from ''Unknown Fields'', a "nomadic design studio" from London. Footage posted on YouTube by Maughan appears to show him collecting samples from the floor of the dam. Maughan's account contrasts with the Chinese media's own reporting of the rare earth industry in the area. In 2016, Chinese authorities identified contamination of farmlands surrounding the dam. 798 Art Zone (), or Dashanzi Art District, is a complex of 50-year-old decommissioned military factory buildings boasting a unique architectural style that houses a thriving artistic community in Dashanzi, Chaoyang District, Beijing. The area is often called the 798 Art District or Factory 798 although technically, Factory #798 is only one of several structures inside the complex formerly known as 718 Joint Factory. The buildings are within alleys number 2 and 4 on Jiǔxiānqiáo Lù (酒仙桥路), south of the Dàshānziqiáo flyover (大山子桥).
