Antônio Salim Curiati
Antônio Salim Curiati ( Avaré, Brazil, 13 February 1928) is a Brazilian physician, and politician. He was Mayor of São Paulo from 13 May 1982 to 14 March 1983. Early life He is the son of Lebanese immigrants. Initially he studied at Scholar Group "Matilde Vieira" in Avaré, but later moved to São Paulo and attended the Colégio Marista Arquidiocesano. He later joined the Escola Paulista de Medicina where he could become an otolaryngologist. Political life He was State Deputy for São Paulo in 1966 for the first time. He served as Federal Deputy from 1987 to 1991, during which time he participated in the Constituent Assembly of 1988, which drew up Brazil’s first democratic after the military dictatorship (1964–1985). In 2006 he was elected for his eighth term as State Deputy. The Chamber of Deputies ( pt, Câmara dos Deputados) is a federal legislative body and the lower house of the National Congress of Brazil. The chamber comprises 513 deputies, who are elected by proportional representation to serve four-year terms. The current President of the Chamber is the Deputy Arthur Lira ( PP- AL), who was elected on 1 February 2021. Structure The number of deputies elected is proportional to the size of the population of the respective state (or of the Federal District) as of 1994. However, no delegation can be made up of less than eight or more than seventy seats. Thus the least populous state elects eight federal deputies and the most populous elects seventy. These restrictions favour the smaller states at the expense of the more populous states and so the size of the delegations is not exactly proportional to population. Progressistas (; PP) is a centre-right to right-wing political party in Brazil. Founded in 1995 as the Brazilian Progressive Party, it emerged from parties that were successors to ARENA, the ruling party of the Brazilian military dictatorship. Paulo Maluf
Paulo Salim Maluf (; born 3 September 1931) is a Brazilian politician with a career spanning over four decades and many functions, including those of State Governor of São Paulo, Mayor of the City of São Paulo, Congressman and Presidential candidate. As of 2011, Maluf is on a second consecutive term as Federal Deputy. His political base is founded on populism and the provision of major public works. His career has been plagued with substantial allegations of corruption, although he was only convicted by Brazilian Courts in 2017. He spent a few months in jail and is now under house arrest due to his poor health and advanced age.
