Antônio Pedro
Antônio Pedro Borges de Oliveira (11 November 1940 – 12 March 2023) was a Brazilian actor, comedian, stage director and playwright, whose career spanned over six decades. Life and career Born in Rio de Janeiro, Pedro started his career as an actor and an assistant director in 1960. Initially only active on stage, in 1969 Pedro made his television debut in the Rede Tupi telenovela ''Super Plá'', and became popular in the 1970s thanks to his participation in numerous TV Globo telenovelas, starting from ''O Bofe'' (1972). In 1989 he created the comedy alter ego Bicalho for the ''Chico Anysio Show'', a character he successfully reprised for several seasons of the 1990s show ''Escolinha do Professor Raimundo''. Rede Tupi (; in English, Tupi Network) was a Brazilian television network free-to-air. Its parent broadcaster, located in the city of São Paulo, was the first TV station to operate in the country, being inaugurated on 18 September 1950 by journalist Assis Chateaubriand. He belonged to Diários Associados, one of the largest media conglomerates of the 20th century, owner of several newspapers, magazines, and radio. The channel was formed in the 1970s, with members as co-brothers of the Diários Associados and affiliates. The generating stations were TV Tupi São Paulo and TV Tupi Rio de Janeiro. ''Zorra Total'' was a Brazilian television comedy broadcast by TV Globo. It was launched on March 25, 1999, and has been shown on Saturdays at 10p.m. since May 1999. Despite being audience leader in its exhibition schedule, ''Zorra'' is heavily criticized for its style of fool humor, and is considered by many as one of the worst programs on Brazilian television. Francisco Buarque de Hollanda (born 19 June 1944), popularly known simply as Chico Buarque, is a Brazilian singer-songwriter, guitarist, composer, playwright, writer, and poet. He is best known for his music, which often includes social, economic, and cultural reflections on Brazil. The firstborn son of Sérgio Buarque de Hollanda, Buarque lived at several locations throughout his childhood, though mostly in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, and Rome. He wrote and studied literature as a child and found music through the bossa nova compositions of Tom Jobim and João Gilberto. He performed as a singer and guitarist in the 1960s as well as writing a play that was deemed dangerous by the Brazilian military dictatorship of the time. Volta Redonda () is the name of a Municipalities of Brazil, municipality in the Rio de Janeiro (state), Rio de Janeiro state of Brazil with an area of 182.81 km2, located from 350m to 707m above the sea level (22°31'23" S, 44°06'15" W) and with a population of 273,988 inhabitants (estimated in 2020).
