He was appointed bishop to the Diocese of Poreč-Pula on 27 January 1984 and consecrated on 28 April 1984. Bogetić retired from the diocese on 18 November 1997. Prior to his retirement, Bogetić was responsible for the erection of the Redemptoris Mater Seminary in his diocese. A bishop is an ordained clergy member who is entrusted with a position of authority and oversight in a religious institution.
