{{Use dmy dates, date=April 2022 Antrim RFC (Antrim Rugby Football Club) is a rugby club based at Allen Park in Antrim, County Antrim, Northern Ireland. It is affiliated to the Ulster Branch of the Irish Rugby Football Union. The club presently field a First XV in the Ulster Minor League East 1 Section, finishing runner up in the 2013/14 season. The squad train at Allen Park on a Tuesday and Thursday evening at 7:00pm. The club also include a Viking Minis section for children between the ages of 5-11, maintaining close links with local primary schools and in particular, Antrim Grammar School. Traditionally, the team wear blue and white with navy shorts and navy socks. Antrim Hockey Club is a hockey club based at Antrim Forum The club was founded in 1894 and was one of the founding members of the Ulster Hockey Union. Antrim Hockey Club's first eleven play in the Senior League of the Ulster Senior League. Grounds After World War II, the playing pitches were located in the Castle Grounds, Antrim. In 1970, another pitch was acquired at the Lough Neagh shore on ground owned by the then club president. Also in 1973 a new gravel pitch became available when the Antrim Forum opened. In 1972, the club agreed an alliance with Antrim Rugby Football Club. An old stable in the Castle Grounds was converted into a clubhouse and premises developed at Allen Park. Changing accommodation with three hockey pitches, two grass and one gravel, along with three rugby pitches were constructed and first used in 1979. Ravenhill Stadium (known as the Kingspan Stadium for sponsorship reasons) is a rugby stadium located in Belfast, Northern Ireland. It is the home of Ulster Rugby. The Ulster Towns Cup is a rugby union competition organized by the Ulster branch of the Irish Rugby Football Union. It is confined to teams outside of Belfast. Since the resumption of play after World War II, where a town is represented by a senior club, their second team is the one that competes. Willie John McBride
William James McBride, CBE, better known as Willie John McBride (born 6 June 1940) is a former rugby union footballer who played as a Lock (rugby union), lock for Ireland national rugby union team, Ireland and the British and Irish Lions. He played 63 Test match (rugby union), Tests for Ireland including eleven as captain, and toured with the Lions five times; a record that gave him 17 Lions Test caps. He also captained the most successful ever Lions side, which toured South Africa in 1974. Youth McBride was born at Toomebridge, County Antrim. Owing to his father's death when he was four years old, he spent most of his spare time helping out on his family farm. Because of this he did not start playing rugby until he was 17. Antrim (named after the town of Antrim) was a local government district in Northern Ireland.
