Antonis Constantinides
Antonis Constantinides (born 24 October 1974) is a Cypriot professional basketball head coach, currently head coach of BC Körmend of the Hungarian league. He won both the Cypriot championship and cup titles in 2011 with ETHA Engomis, his first ever career titles, after which he was chosen 'coach of the year' for the 2010-11 season in Cyprus. He has experience in European competitions, participating regularly with his teams in the FIBA EuroChallenge. Personal life Constantinides is a fluent speaker of English and Greek language. The Balkan International Basketball League (BIBL), also known as the Balkan League, is a multinational professional basketball league that features mostly clubs from the Balkans. The league included teams from countries as Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Kosovo, Albania and Israel. The most recent league champion is Hapoel Galil Elyon from Israel. Purpose The purpose of the Balkan International Basketball League is to provide competitive international play for clubs in the Balkans that would otherwise be unable to participate in international basketball. FIBA EuroChallenge (called the FIBA Europe League in 2003–05, and FIBA EuroCup in 2005–08) was the 3rd-tier level transnational men's professional continental club basketball competition in Europe, from 2003 to 2015. It was organized and run by FIBA Europe. The Nemzeti Bajnokság I/A ( en, National Championship I/A, commonly abbreviated NB I/A) is the highest level league of club men's basketball in Hungary. Format The league comprises 14 teams. A NB I/A season is split into a league stage and a playoff/playout stage. The Cypriot Basketball Cup is an annual professional basketball national cup competition, organized by the Cyprus Basketball Federation since 1969. Format Starting in 2007, the Cypriot Cup competition's format changed to where only teams from the Cyprus Basketball Division A, Cypriot A Division compete at the cup. The cup employs a knock-out stage and a final four format. The Cup's winner automatically qualifies to compete in the next season of the FIBA Europe Cup competition. Cyprus Basketball Division A
The Cypriot Basketball Division A is currently the top-tier level men's professional basketball competition of the Cypriot basketball league system. It is run and governed by the Cyprus Basketball Federation. Format At present, six clubs compete in the league. Since the 2016–17 season, the six teams play each other four times during the regular season, with the top 4 teams reaching the play-off semi-finals stage. One team (the last one) at the end of the season is relegated to the second division, whilst one team from the second division is promoted. The play-off semi-finals and the championship winner will be decided after three wins. The championship winner, along with the winners of the Cypriot Cup, will qualify to compete in the next season's FIBA's European-wide continental competitions.
