Antonio Álvarez Desanti
Antonio Álvarez Desanti (born July 6, 1958) is a Costa Rican politician, lawyer and businessman who has served twice as List of Presidents of the Legislative Assembly of Costa Rica, President of the Legislative Assembly (1995-1996 and 2016). He was National Liberation Party (Costa Rica), National Liberation Party candidate for the 2018 Costa Rican general election. Early life and education Antonio Álvarez Desanti was born in San José, Costa Rica on July 6, 1958. His father was Isaías Álvarez Alfaro and his mother was Dora Desanti Arce. He began his primary studies at Calasanz College. He studied law at the University of Costa Rica. In 1981, he obtained a degree in law, and at the beginning of the 1990s he completed a master's degree in international tax law at Harvard University. Costa Rica's National Liberation Party presidential primary (or ''Convención Nacional'' “National Convention”) was a primary election programmed for April 2, 2017 in order to choose the party's presidential nominee for the 2018 Costa Rican general election. PLN was then the main opposition party to Luis Guillermo Solís' government. After rumors of former president and Nobel Prize laureate Oscar Arias running for re-election, Arias made public during a television chain on September 19, 2016, that he would not run for the presidency again expecting to promote new and younger leaderships. Televisora de Costa Rica S.A., known as Teletica is a Costa Rican television broadcaster, founded in 1958. It operates Teletica Canal 7, XperTV Canal 33, and, since 1991 (partially since 2018), CableTica (now called Liberty).
