Antonio Jesús Martín
Antonio Jesús Martín Gaitán (born 22 April 1982) is a Spanish 5-per-team footballer. He has a vision impairment and is a B1 type sportsperson. He has represented Spain at the 2004 Summer Paralympics, 2008 Summer Paralympics and 2012 Summer Paralympics, picking up a pair of bronze medals in 2004 and 2012. Personal Martín was born on April 22, 1982, in Málaga. He is completely blind and is a B1 type sportsperson. He is nicknamed 'El Niño'. In 2005, Martín attended university and studied business. In 2013, he was awarded the bronze Real Orden al Mérito Deportivo. 5-a-side football In 2005, Martín played in the domestic championship where his team finished first. Spanish Paralympic Committee ( es, Comité Paralímpico Español, CPE) is a Spanish non-profit sport organisation founded in 1995, that oversees five national disability sport federations. The organisation has a Secretary General and a President. Since 2005, they have been supported by Plan ADO. In 2000, the CPE was involved in a cheating scandal at the 2000 Summer Paralympics. History The CPE was created in 1995 in response to the success of Spanish competitors at the 1992 Summer Paralympics. ONCE, Organización Nacional de Ciegos Españoles (ONCE) assisted in setting up the CPE. Five-a-side football is a version of minifootball, in which each team fields five players (four outfield players and a goalkeeper). Other differences from football include a smaller pitch, smaller goals, and a reduced game duration. Matches are played indoors, or outdoors on artificial grass pitches that may be enclosed within a barrier or "cage" to prevent the ball from leaving the playing area and keep the game constantly flowing. Rules The penalty area is significantly different from football: it is semi-circular in shape, only the goalkeeper is allowed to touch the ball within it, and they may or may not be allowed out. Goalkeepers are only allowed to give the ball out to another player through hands. The goalkeeper may only kick the ball to effect a save. There are no offside rules. Headers are allowed.
