Antonio González Velázquez
Antonio González Velázquez (1723–1793) was a Spanish late-Baroque painter. Biography Velázquez was born in Madrid into a family of artists; his father Pablo González Velázquez and brothers Alejandro and Luis were all painters. He received a scholarship to travel to Rome in 1747 from the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando where he was studying under Corrado Giaquinto. The following year he made the frescoes in the church of Santa Trinita degli Spagnoli. In 1752 he returned to Spain and a year later helped to paint the walls of the church of the Monastery of the Incarnation of Madrid and the cupola of the chapel of the Basilica del Pilar de Zaragoza. His reputation grew to the point of being appointed court painter in 1757, in which he participated in the decoration of the Royal Palace of Madrid with allegorical painting on the ceiling of the antechamber of the Queen. Antonio González De Balcarce
Antonio González de Balcarce (June 24, 1774 – August 15, 1819) was an Argentine military commander in the early 19th century. González de Balcarce was born in Buenos Aires. He joined the armed forces as a cadet in 1788. In the battle for Montevideo in 1807, he was captured by the British forces and taken to England. After his release, he fought in the service of Spain during the Peninsular War against the Emperor Napoleon. Returning to Buenos Aires, he participated in the May Revolution in 1810. Subsequently, he was named second commander for the military campaign of the independentist forces in the Viceroyalty of Peru, where he won the Battle of Suipacha on November 7, 1810, the first victory over the Spanish royal forces. Eventually, he was called back and became the Governor of Buenos Aires Province in 1813. Antonio González (born 13 July 1956) is a Cuban former javelin thrower. He set a personal best of in 1982 (with the old javelin design). He was a silver medallist at the 1979 Pan American Games (behind winner Duncan Atwood by only four centimetres) and was bronze medallist at the 1979 IAAF World Cup. He won his first international medal as a teenager, taking the silver behind compatriot Reinaldo Patterson at the 1975 Central American and Caribbean Championships in Athletics. He won his sole regional title at the 1982 Central American and Caribbean Games with a games record throw of . The Thomasian Martyrs were the Dominican Catholic priests who became administrators, professors, or students in the University of Santo Tomas, Manila.
