Antonio Cuenco
Antonio "Tony" Veloso Cuenco (March 26, 1936 – June 27, 2020) was a Filipino politician who served as a council member for the 2nd District of the Cebu City Council. He also served as the Secretary-General of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) from 2010 to 2013 and as representative of the 2nd District of Cebu City in the House of Representatives. Personal life Born on March 26, 1936, to a well-known family in Cebu, the Cuenco family, "Tony" was the son of former Gov. Manuel Cuenco and Milagros Veloso-Cuenco, the grandnephew of former Rep. Miguel Cuenco (5th district), and the grandson of the former Senate President, Mariano Jesús Cuenco. ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly
The ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), until 2007, the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Organization (AIPO), is an organization founded in 1977, which is grouped with, but formally associated with ASEAN. Its creation was initiated by Indonesia, with the support of other members of the ASEAN 5 founding members. It met for the first time in 1978 in Singapore. It is a weak, transnational parliamentary assembly that only has consultative powers, and lacks legislative and oversight powers over ASEAN and its members. It has over 300 members from ASEAN members. Brunei (and previously Myanmar) which does not have a legislature, attend as Special Observers to AIPA. Marcelo Fernan
Marcelo "Celing" Briones Fernan (October 24, 1927 – July 11, 1999) was a Filipino lawyer and political figure. He is the only Filipino to have served as both Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and as Senate President. He is also the third Filipino to have headed both the judicial and legislative branches of government, after Querube Makalintal who served as Chief Justice and Speaker of the Batasang Pambansa in the 1970s, and José Yulo, who served as Chief Justice and Speaker of the House of Representatives before 1946.
