Antoine Pescatore
Constantin-Joseph-Antoine Pescatore, known as Antoine Pescatore, was born on 16 December 1787 in Luxembourg City, and died on 31 October 1858 in Sandweiler. He was a businessman and politician. From 1817 to 1820, he was mayor of the city of Luxembourg. Sandweiler
Sandweiler () is a commune and town in southern Luxembourg. It is located east of Luxembourg City. As of , the town of Sandweiler, which lies in the south-west of the commune, has a population of . Other settlements within the commune include Findel and Birelerhaff. The commune is dominated by Luxembourg Airport, Luxembourg's only international airport and the fifth-busiest cargo airport in Europe, which lies to the north and west of the town of Sandweiler. It is also home to the Sandweiler German war cemetery. The commune is surrounded by forests. The Assembly of Estates (french: Assemblée des États, german: Ständeversammlung) was the legislature of Luxembourg from 1841 to 1848, and again from 1856 to 1868. Background and role The Congress of Vienna awarded the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg to the King of the Netherlands in personal union, as his private property, though it also became part of the German Confederation. King William I therefore became King-Grand Duke. He, however, administered Luxembourg essentially as part of the Netherlands, and Luxembourg was represented in the Dutch Estates-General from 1816. In the Belgian Revolution of 1830, the southern provinces of the Netherlands split off to become the Kingdom of Belgium; many Luxembourgers wished to become part of this new Belgian state as well. Paul De Scherff
Paul de Scherff (14 July 1820 – 22 July 1894) was a Luxembourgian politician. De Scherff was born in Frankfurt to F. H. W. von Scherff-Arnoldi, who was minister plenipotentiary of the King-Grand Duke to the German Federal Diet.Mersch (1949), p. 520 After studying law, Paul de Scherff came to Luxembourg. For six years he was ''avocat géneral'', and later became president of the superior court, at the age of 34. From 24 June 1856 to 11 November 1858 he was ''Administrateur général'' (Minister) for Public Works and Railways in the Simons Ministry. From 1869 to 1871, and then again from 1886 to 1892 he was a member of the Chamber of Deputies for the Centre, and was President of the Chamber of Deputies from 1869 until 1872.
