Antoine Chessex
Antoine Chessex (1980 in Vevey) is a Swiss artist and researcher who works with sound. Selected instrumental works include Les Abîmes Hallucinés (for Ensemble Proton in Bern), La Résonance des Ruines (for ICTUS Ensemble in Brussels), Plastic Concrete (For Apartment House in London), The Experience of Limit, and Echo/cide. Antoine Chessex is the recipient of a Swiss Music Prize from the Federal Office of Culture in 2020, as well as an Artist Prize "Werkjahr" from the City of Zurich in 2018. Chessex is also a founding member of the noise band Monno with whom he toured extensively. Zbigniew Karkowski
Zbigniew Karkowski (born 14 March 1958 – 12 December 2013) was a Polish experimental musician and composer. Karkowski was born on 14 March 1958 in Krakow, Poland. He studied composition at the State College of Music in Gothenburg, Sweden, aesthetics of modern music at the University of Gothenburg’s Department of Musicology, and computer music at the Chalmers University of Technology. After completing his studies in Sweden, he studied sonology for a year at the Royal Conservatory of Music in The Hague, Netherlands. During his education, he also attended many summer composition master courses arranged by Centre Acanthes in Avignon and Aix-en-Provence, France, studying with Iannis Xenakis, Olivier Messiaen, Pierre Boulez and Georges Aperghis, among others. Ulrike Gabriel was born in 1964 in Munich and is an artist and researcher focussing on generative systems. Ulrike co-founded the laboratory Codelab, Berlin where she spent some time as a director. She also worked in ecological agriculture in Argentina from 2003 to 2006. Ulrike was also a professor at the University of Art and Design HfG Offenbach (2006-2012). At this university, she led the teaching area of Electronic Media. Globus Cassus is an art project and book by Swiss architect and artist Christian Waldvogel presenting a conceptual transformation of planet Earth into a much bigger, hollow, artificial world with an ecosphere on its inner surface. It was the Swiss contribution to the 2004 Venice Architecture Biennale and was awarded the gold medal in the category "Most beautiful books of the World" at the Leipzig Book Fair in 2005. It consists of a meticulous description of the transformation process, a narrative of its construction, and suggestions on the organizational workings on Globus Cassus. Waldvogel described it as an "open source" art project and stated that anyone could contribute designs and narratives to it on the project wiki.
