Antilla, Cuba
Antilla is a municipality in Holguín Province of Cuba. It was founded in January 21, 1925 as a railroad terminal and port town. Geography It is located on the north-eastern shore of Cuba, on a peninsula between the ''Gulf of Nipe'' and ''Banes Bay''. The municipality covers and contains the communities of Bijarú, Canalito, Cortaderas, Deleite, Este Cabecera, Los Novillos, Oeste Cabecera, San Jerónimo and Sao de los Hidalgos. USS ''Antilla'' was a United States Navy cargo ship in commission from 1918-1919. SS ''Antilla'' was built as a commercial cargo ship at West Hartlepool, England, by William Gray & Company. The U.S. Navy acquired her for World War I service from the New York and Cuba Mail Steamship Company on 14 May 1918 and commissioned her on 20 May 1918 at Hoboken, New Jersey as USS ''Antilla''. Attached to the Naval Overseas Transportation Service, ''Antilla'' made two voyages to Europe Europe is a large peninsula conventionally considered a continent in its own right because of its great physical size and the weight of its history and traditions. SS ''Antilla'' (or "ES ''Antilla''", with "ES" standing for ''"Elektroschiff"'' german: electric ship) was a Hamburg America Line (HAPAG) cargo ship that was launched in 1939 and Scuttling, scuttled in 1940. ''Antilla'' was built for trade between Germany and the Caribbean, and was named accordingly. Antilla, Cuba, Antilla is a city in Holguín Province in eastern Cuba. Building ''Antilla'' was launched in Hamburg on 21 March 1939 and completed on 11 July. She was one of three sister ships launched in 1939 for HAPAG. She and her sister were built by Deutsche Werft in Finkenwerder, Hamburg, while their sister ''USS Saturn (AK-49), Arauca'' was built by Bremer Vulkan in Bremen-Vegesack.
