Carlo Anti (28 April 1889 – 9 June 1961) was an archaeologist and an officer in the army in the First World War and until 1922. In particle physics, every type of particle is associated with an antiparticle with the same mass but with opposite physical charges (such as electric charge). In organic chemistry, syn- and anti-addition are different ways in which substituent molecules can be added to an alkene or alkyne. The concepts of syn and anti addition are used to characterize the different reactions of organic chemistry by reflecting the stereochemistry of the products in a reaction. The type of addition that occurs depends on multiple different factors of a reaction, and is defined by the final orientation of the substituents on the parent molecule.
