Anthony Venn-Brown
Anthony Venn-Brown OAM (born 13 March 1951) is a former Australian evangelist in the Assemblies of God now (Australian Christian Churches) and an author whose book, ''A Life of Unlearning'' describes his experience in Australia's first ex-gay program. He is also the Co-founder and previous Convenor of Freedom 2b which is a network for LGBT, GLBTIQ (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex and Queer) people from Evangelicalism, Evangelical backgrounds. He is also the founder and CEO of Ambassadors & Bridge Builders International (ABBI). Early life Anthony Venn-Brown was born in 1951 and raised in a family with a strong Anglican Church background (Anglo-Catholic). His family were committed to church life during his early years but as a teenager Anthony felt that the rituals, language and beliefs were irrelevant not only to him but also the generation of the 60's and he ceased all involvement in the church. The Order of Australia is an honour that recognises Australian citizens and other persons for outstanding achievement and service. It was established on 14 February 1975 by Elizabeth II, Queen of Australia, on the advice of the Australian Government. Before the establishment of the order, Australian citizens received British honours. Ex-gay
The ex-gay movement consists of people and organizations that encourage people to refrain from entering or pursuing same-sex relationships, to eliminate homosexual desires and to develop heterosexual desires, or to enter into a heterosexual relationship. Beginning with the founding of Love In Action and Exodus International in the mid-1970s, the movement saw rapid growth in the 1980s and 1990s before declining in the 2000s. It relies on the involvement of individuals who formerly identified themselves as gay, lesbian, or bisexual but no longer do; these individuals may state either that they have eliminated their attraction to the same sex altogether or that they abstain from acting on such attraction. Freedom2b
Freedom2b is an Australian-based network that supports LGBT people from Christians, Christian backgrounds. It helps them resolve issues of faith, sexuality, and gender identity while working to promote understanding and acceptance both in the church and within the wider community. Freedom2b is not unlike many of the other denominational groups that have been created to assist people with resolving issues of faith and sexuality such as Acceptance or Integrity, but it accepts both religious and non religious LGBTI people and does not promote a particular belief system.
