Anthony Jay Smith (born July 26, 1988) is an American professional mixed martial artist. He currently competes in the Light Heavyweight division in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). A professional competitor since 2008, Smith has also formerly competed for Strikeforce and Bellator. As of December 6, 2022, he is #6 in the UFC light heavyweight rankings. Anthony John Francis Smith (30 March 1926 – 7 July 2014) was, among other things, a writer, sailor, balloonist and former ''Tomorrow's World'' television presenter. He was perhaps best known for his bestselling work ''The Body'' (originally published in 1968 and later renamed ''The Human Body''), which has sold over 800,000 copies worldwide and tied in with a BBC television series, ''The Human Body'', known in America by the name '' Intimate Universe: The Human Body''. Antony Hudgell (born 8 October 2014 as Antony Simpson), is an English Fundraising, fundraiser and recipient of the Pride of Britain Award and Points of Light#United_Kingdom_Points_of_Light, UK Points of Light award. In May 2013, the American website Gawker and the ''Toronto Star'' reported that they had viewed a cellphone video that showed then- Mayor of Toronto Rob Ford smoking crack cocaine and commenting on political issues. Gawker raised money to buy the video, but were unable to acquire it when the seller broke off contact. On October 31, 2013, the Toronto Police Service announced that they were in possession of the video, "and at least one other". The video was retrieved in the course of an investigation of drug gangs, entitled "Project Traveller". Ford's associate Alexander "Sandro" Lisi was charged with extortion for attempting to retrieve the video, in exchange for marijuana. It features Blue Ear, a character created in honor of Anthony Smith, a hard-of-hearing 4-year-old comic book fan from Salem, New Hampshire, USA. Smith has no hearing in his right ear and minimal hearing in his left because he has Mosaic trisomy 22. Publication history Smith was given a hearing aid by his mother, Christina D'Allesandro, and was using it regularly until he became depressed and refused to wear it to school in 2012. Anthony Smith (3 August 1894 – 1964) was awarded the George Cross for "outstanding gallantry and devotion to duty in conditions of the utmost danger and difficulty" on 23 February 1944 in rescuing people from a bomb damaged building in the World's End area of Chelsea, London. A chimney sweep and shoemaker by trade, he was attached to the Chelsea Division of the Civil Defence Rescue Service. First World War At the outbreak of war in 1914, Smith enlisted in the Royal Marines Light Infantry, Chatham Division. He was posted to the Royal Marine Brigade of the Royal Naval Division and participated in the landings at ANZAC Cove in April 1915.
