Anthony S. Fell
Anthony S. Fell, OC is a Canadian businessman who was formerly chairman and CEO of RBC Dominion Securities (RBC DS), the corporate and investment banking subsidiary of the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC). From 1980 to 2000, he was the chief executive officer of Dominion Securities, which RBC purchased a majority stake in 1988 and completely acquired in 1996; thereafter Fell assumed the title of Deputy Chairman of RBC from 1998 to 2000, making him the number two executive after John Cleghorn, the chairman and CEO of the bank holding company RBC. In 2000, Fell relinquished his Deputy Chair title and was succeeded as CEO of RBC Capital Markets by Gord Nixon (who would succeed Cleghorn as CEO of RBC in 2001), and that year RBC DS was also rebranded to RBC Capital Markets (RBC CM). Sir Anthony Fell (18 May 1914 – 20 March 1998) was a British Conservative Party politician. He sat in the House of Commons for most of the years from 1951 to 1983. Early life He was educated in New Zealand and at Bedford School. Political career Fell first stood for Parliament in a by-election for the seat of Brigg in 1948, but was defeated by Labour's Lance Mallalieu. He stood in another by-election a year later for Hammersmith South, but was beaten by Thomas Williams, as he was in the 1950 General Election. He was elected at the 1951 general election as Member of Parliament (MP) for Great Yarmouth, a seat which had been held at the start of the 20th century by his grandfather Sir Arthur Fell. John Edward Cleghorn, , (born July 7, 1941) is a Canadian business executive and a former university leader. Cleghorn was former chairman and chief executive officer of Royal Bank of Canada from 1994 until 2001. He is a former chairman of the board of Canadian Pacific Railway.
