Anthony Rendon (politician)
Anthony Rendon (born March 4, 1968) is an American politician serving as the 70th and current Speaker of the California State Assembly since 2016. A member of the Democratic Party, he is the fifth-longest-serving speaker in California history (and the longest-serving speaker to serve his first term after the adoption of California's term limits). Since 2012, he has represented the 63rd district, located in the southeastern part of Los Angeles County, including the cities of South Gate, Lynwood, and Paramount. Early life and career Rendon was born on March 4, 1968 in Silver Lake, a neighborhood in central Los Angeles. His grandparents immigrated from Mexico to the United States during the 1920s. Lynwood is a city in Los Angeles County, California. At the 2010 census, the city had a total population of 69,772, down from 69,845 at the 2000 census. Lynwood is located near South Gate and Compton in the central portion of the Los Angeles Basin. California High School (CHS) is a public high school in South Whittier, California and belongs to the Whittier Union High School District. "Cal Hi", as it is known, is home to the Condors, with around 3,100 students currently attending. The mascot is the condor and the school colors are navy and gold.
