Anthony Maydwell
Anthony Maydwell (born 1956, Sydney) is an Australian harpist, educator, musicologist and director of the ''Summa Musica'' Chamber Choir and Ensemble. Early years Maydwell began piano studies at the age of 5, and the harp five years later, studying under June Loney. He was a corner boy medallist in St Andrew’s Cathedral choir, Sydney, before moving to the New South Wales State Conservatorium of Music. He was Student of the Year at the Conservatorium on graduation in 1975. At 16, Maydwell began playing regularly with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and he made his first recordings and his concerto début for Musica Viva Australia the next year. In 1974, he was among Australia's first broadcasters in stereo FM radio, acting as compere on classical radio station 2MBS-FM on its first day of official broadcasting. Sydney Conservatorium Of Music
The Sydney Conservatorium of Music (formerly the New South Wales State Conservatorium of Music and known by the moniker "The Con") is a heritage-listed music school in Macquarie Street, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is one of the oldest and most prestigious music schools in Australia. Located adjacent to the Royal Botanic Gardens on the eastern fringe of the Sydney central business district, the conservatorium is a faculty of the University of Sydney, and incorporates the community-based Conservatorium Open Academy and the Conservatorium High School. In addition to its secondary, undergraduate, post-graduate and community education teaching and learning functions, the conservatorium undertakes research in various fields of music. Musica Viva was founded in 1945 by Romanian-born violinist Richard Goldner, with the aim of bringing chamber music to Australia. The co-founder was a German-born musicologist, Walter Dullo. At its inception, Musica Viva was a string ensemble performing chamber music to small groups of European immigrants. By 2013, Musica Viva had become one of the largest chamber music presenters in the world. Musica Viva runs a large music education programs across Australia, called Musica Viva In Schools. The CEO is Hywel Sims. The Artistic Director is conductor and author Paul Kildea.
