Anthony Little (boxer)
Anthony Little (born 6 November 1980 in Mullewa, Western Australia) is an Australian amateur lightweight boxer. Little is a left-handed boxer from Geraldton, Western Australia who started boxing at the age of 13. He was named Aboriginal Sports Star of the Year in 2000, 2001 and 2002 and was the first indigenous boxer from Western Australia to compete at the Olympics. Career At the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Little beat Tunisian Taoufik Chobba in the opening round but suffered a TKO loss to Murat Khrachev in his second bout. He won the 2006 Commonwealth Games qualifier, beating Leonardo Zappavigna despite having a broken left hand but wasn't selected for the Games team due to the injury. A positive test to marijuana is also believed to have affected his selection. He bounced back, however, at the Oceanian Games to qualify for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. Mullewa, Western Australia
Mullewa is a town in the Mid West region of Western Australia, north of Perth and east-northeast of Geraldton. Mullewa is well known for an abundance of wildflowers in spring and it is one of the few places in Western Australia that the wreath flower grows. The surrounding areas produce wheat and other cereal crops. The town is a receival site for Cooperative Bulk Handling. History European settlers moved to the area in 1869 to take up pastoral leases for farming. In 1894, the government built a narrow gauge railway from Geraldton to Mullewa and the town was gazetted in the same year. The town is named for Mullewa Spring, based on an Aboriginal name recorded by surveyor John Forrest in 1873. The meaning of the name is not certain, but the most accepted meaning is "place of fog". Aleksei Viktorovich Tishchenko (russian: Алексей Викторович Тищенко; born 29 May 1984) is a former Russian Olympic boxer best known to dominate the lower weight classes in the last years winning numerous titles. He was regarded as "one of the best pound for pound Olympic boxers in the world". He was born in Omsk, Soviet Union. Career Pressure fighter Tishchenko won the Featherweight Gold medal at the 2004 Summer Olympics. He qualified for the Athens Games by ending up in first place at the 2nd AIBA European 2004 Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Warsaw, Poland. Tishchenko also won the featherweight gold medal at the 2005 World Amateur Boxing Championships in Mianyang, China.
