Hanley Castle
Hanley Castle is a village and civil parish in Worcestershire, England, between the towns of Malvern and Upton upon Severn and a short distance from the River Severn. It lies in the administrative area of Malvern Hills District, and is part of the informal region known as ''The Malverns''. It is served primarily by bus service 332 Worcester - Upton upon Severn - Hanley Castle operated by Aston Coaches and 363 Worcester - Tewkesbury operated by First Worcester. The village population together with that of the nearby village of Hanley Swan is around 1500. Nicholas Lechmere, 1st Baron Lechmere
Nicholas Lechmere, 1st Baron Lechmere (5 August 167518 June 1727) was an English lawyer and Whig politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1708 until 1721 when he was raised to the peerage as Baron Lechmere. He served as Attorney-General and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster. Life Lechmere was the second son of Edmund Lechmere of Hanley Castle, Worcestershire, and the younger brother of Anthony Lechmere, MP. He was admitted at Middle Temple in 1693 and called to the bar on 25 October 1698. In 1708, he became King's counsel. He made a profitable career as a lawyer, where he followed the profession of his grandfather Sir Nicholas Lechmere. Lechmere was elected in a contest as Member of Parliament for Appleby at the 1708 general election. He transferred to Cockermouth at the 1710 general election and was returned MP in contests then and in 1713. He was one of the authors who drafted legislation concerning Scotland in January 1710. Worcestershire ( , ; written abbreviation: Worcs) is a county in the West Midlands of England. The area that is now Worcestershire was absorbed into the unified Kingdom of England in 927, at which time it was constituted as a county (see History of Worcestershire). Over the centuries the county borders have been modified, but it was not until 1844 that substantial changes were made. Worcestershire was abolished as part of local government reforms in 1974, with its northern area becoming part of the West Midlands and the rest part of the county of Hereford and Worcester. Salwey Winnington
Salwey Winnington (28 August 1666 – 6 November 1736), of Stanford Court, Worcestershire, was an English landowner and Member of Parliament (MP). Winnington was the eldest son of Sir Francis Winnington, a lawyer and politician who was Solicitor General in the 1670s. He himself also entered the Middle Temple to study law. He entered Parliament in 1694 as MP for Bewdley, one of the small number of English constituencies which was represented only by a single MP, and was its member for all but two-and-a-half years of the next twenty. In 1690, Winnington married Anne Foley, daughter of Thomas Foley of Witley Court and sister of Lord Foley.
