Anthony Karbo
Anthony Abayifaa Karbo (born 12 August 1979) is a Ghanaian politician and member of Parliament of the Lawra constituency in the upper west region of Ghana. He is a member of the New Patriotic Party and the deputy minister for Roads and Highways in Ghana. Early years Karbo is a member of the Dagaaba ethnic group and hails from Lawra in the Upper West Region of Ghana. He was born in Jekarayili a small town located in Tamale, Ghana's Northern regional capital. A member of the Abayifaa Royal Family, Karbo was introduced at an early age to political activism. His father, Abeifaa Karbo was a founding member of the Northern People's Party, eventually becoming the first Member of Parliament for the Lawra- Nandom constituency. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo ( ; born 29 March 1944) is a Ghanaian politician who has served as the president of Ghana since 7 January 2017. 2020 Ghanaian general election, In 2020, he was re-elected for his second term, which will end on 6 January 2025. Tamale Metropolitan District
Tamale Metropolitan District is one of the sixteen districts in Northern Region, Ghana. Originally created as a municipal district assembly in 1988 when it was known as Tamale Municipal District, which was created from the former West Dagomba District Council, until it was elevated to metropolitan district assembly status in August 2004. Later, a small northern part of the district was split off to create Sagnarigu District on 24 June 2012 (which it later was elevated to municipal district assembly status on 15 March 2018 to become Sagnarigu Municipal District); thus the remaining part has been retained as Tamale Metropolitan District. 2020 Ghanaian General Election
General elections were held in Ghana on 7 December 2020. Incumbent President Nana Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was re-elected in the first round after securing a majority of the votes. Former President John Dramani Mahama says he will contest the results. The NPP lost its majority in the parliament, winning just as many seats as the opposition NDC, resulting in a hung parliament with a single independent (Andrew Asiamah Amoako) in the position of kingmaker. National Democratic Congress (Ghana)
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is a social democratic political party in Ghana, founded by Jerry Rawlings, who was Head of State of Ghana from 1981 to 1993 and the President of Ghana from 1993 to 2001. Following the formation of the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC), which ruled Ghana following the military coup d'état on 31 December 1981, there was pressure from the international community to restore democracy. The NDC was formed as the ruling party ahead of elections in 1992, in which Rawlings was elected president, and in 1996 Rawlings was re-elected as the NDC candidate. Rawlings' second term ended in 2001. The NDC lost the presidency in the 2000 election, and it was not until the 2008 election, that they regained it with John Atta Mills as its candidate. National Union Of Ghana Students
NUGS, officially The National Union of Ghana Students is the largest student organization in Ghana. However the date of it foundation has been the subject of controversy. The official Facebook page suggests 1964. However Professor Anselmus Kludze, father of Ave Kludze, claimed that he was the National President of NUGS for the period 1962–1963. He stated he was preceded by P.D. Vanderpuije of the University of Science and Technology (UST) and followed by Mr. F.Y.I. Fiagbe, also of the UST. He further claims that both he and Fiagbe, along with Antwi (the General Secretary at the time), Mr. Easmon and Mr. Kodwo Carr were all arrested and imprisoned without trial under the Preventive Detention Act. The organisation can trace its origins to the Union of Gold Coast Students in West Africa which was founded in the 1930s.
