Anthony Gill (basketball)
Anthony Remeral Gill (born October 17, 1992) is an American basketball player for the Washington Wizards of the National Basketball Association (NBA). Gill played college basketball for the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Virginia Cavaliers. College career Recruiting South Carolina Gill played in all 31 of South Carolina's games and started in 26 of them. Following the firing of head coach Darrin Horn, Gill was given permission to transfer from South Carolina. Virginia Gill received interest from Ohio State and North Carolina but ultimately elected to transfer to the University of Virginia. After sitting out his redshirt season, Gill played an important role off the bench for the Cavaliers during a season where the team won both the ACC regular season and tournament titles. Anthony Gill (political Scientist)
Anthony James Gill (born July 17, 1965) is an American political scientist and adjunct professor of sociology at the University of Washington; he is a non-resident scholar at the Baylor University Institute for the Study of Religion. Gill specializes in political economy, comparative politics and religion. He obtained his PhD (1994) and MA (1989) from the University of California, Los Angeles. Theoretical approach and teaching Gill argues that religious activity will be higher in countries with lower levels of public sector welfare assistance. Building upon economic theory, he argues that state-sponsored social welfare substitutes for the traditional welfare services provided by churches. His analysis focuses on Christian nations in Europe and Latin America. Gill's current research agenda includes how local governments regulate church growth via property rights regulations. Anthony J Gill is an Australian pathologist, professor of surgical pathology at the University of Sydney and the chairman of the Australian Pancreatic Cancer Genome Initiative - part of the International Cancer Genome Consortium. Most of his research is focused on translating the improved understanding of cancer gained at the basic science level into clinically useful diagnostic tests which can be applied in the routine surgical pathology laboratory. In addition to his work on pancreatic carcinoma as chairman of the Australian Pancreatic Cancer Genome Initiative, Gill is best known for his description of the class of malignancies now known as succinate dehydrogenase deficient (SDH deficient) - including SDH deficient Renal Carcinoma and SDH deficient Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumour (GIST).
