Anthony Fox
Anthony Fox is an Republic of Ireland, Irish writer, producer, director, actor and founder of the New Theatre, Dublin. Originally from County Cavan, Fox left Ireland in 1992 to study acting at the Lee Strasberg Studio in London From there he went to New York to work with the Irish Repertory Theatre, and had parts in ''A Wilde Night on Broadway'' and ''Juno and the Paycock''. Fox returned to Ireland in 1997, and set up the New Theatre in Dublin's Temple Bar, Dublin, Temple Bar. Fox later played the lead role in the Irish premiere of Tennessee Williams' ''Sweet Bird of Youth'', as directed by Tim McDonnell, and in 2004 played the lead role in a production of Brendan Behan's ''The Hostage''. His film and TV credits include ''The General (1998 film)'' and ''The Bill'' on ITV (TV network), ITV. County Cavan
County Cavan ( ; gle, Contae an Chabháin) is a Counties of Ireland, county in Republic of Ireland, Ireland. It is in the Provinces of Ireland, province of Ulster and is part of the Border Region. It is named after the town of Cavan and is based on the historic Gaelic Ireland, Gaelic territory of East Breifne, East Breffny (''Bréifne''). ''The General'' is an Irish crime film written and directed by John Boorman about Dublin crime boss Martin Cahill, who undertook several daring heists in the early 1980s and attracted the attention of the Garda Síochána, IRA and Ulster Volunteer Force. ''Anton'' is a 2008 Irish action thriller film directed by Graham Cantwell. It stars Anthony Fox as Anton, a man drawn into the troubles along the Northern Ireland Border in 1972. The film also features Gerard McSorley, Laura Way, Vincent Fegan, Andy Smith and Ronan Wilmot. The film was written for the screen by Anthony Fox. ITV is a British free-to-air public broadcast television network. It was launched in 1955 as Independent Television to provide competition to BBC Television (established in 1936). ''The Bill'' is a British police procedural television series, first broadcast on ITV from 16 August 1983 until 31 August 2010. The programme originated from a one-off drama, '' Woodentop'', broadcast in August 1983. The programme focused on the lives and work of one shift of police officers, rather than on any particular aspect of police work. ''The Bill'' was the longest-running police procedural television series in the United Kingdom, and among the longest running of any British television series at the time of its cancellation. Brendan Behan
Brendan Francis Aidan Behan (christened Francis Behan) ( ; ga, Breandán Ó Beacháin; 9 February 1923 – 20 March 1964) was an Irish poet, short story writer, novelist, playwright, and Irish Republican activist who wrote in both English and Irish. He was named by Irish Central as one of the greatest Irish writers of all time. An Irish republican and a volunteer in the Irish Republican Army, Behan was born in Dublin into a staunchly republican family becoming a member of the IRA's youth organization Fianna Éireann at the age of fourteen. There was also a strong emphasis on Irish history and culture in his home, which meant he was steeped in literature and patriotic ballads from an early age. At age 16, Behan joined the IRA, which led to his serving time in a borstal youth prison in the United Kingdom and imprisonment in Ireland. Thomas Lanier Williams III (March 26, 1911 – February 25, 1983), known by his pen name Tennessee Williams, was an American playwright and screenwriter. Along with contemporaries Eugene O'Neill and Arthur Miller, he is considered among the three foremost playwrights of 20th-century American drama. At age 33, after years of obscurity, Williams suddenly became famous with the success of ''The Glass Menagerie'' (1944) in New York City. He introduced "plastic theatre" in this play and it closely reflected his own unhappy family background. Temple Bar, Dublin
Temple Bar ( ga, Barra an Teampaill) is an area on the south bank of the River Liffey in central Dublin, Ireland. The area is bounded by the Liffey to the north, Dame Street to the south, Westmoreland Street to the east and Fishamble Street to the west. It is promoted as Dublin's 'cultural quarter' and, as a centre of Dublin's city centre's nightlife, is a tourist destination. Temple Bar is in the Dublin 2 postal district.
