"Antes muerta que sencilla" (English: "I'd rather be dead than plain") is a song composed and written by Spanish singer MarÃa Isabel in 2004, when she was 9 years old. It was the Spanish entry at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2004 and it won the competition with a then record total of 171 points. It later became a huge hit in Spain, Latin America, Japan, and it was also a top ten hit in France and a top twenty in Switzerland. She performed the song on various shows as a guest star. A cover version was recorded by Regional Mexican band Los Horóscopos de Durango and became popular among the Duranguense Duranguense is a genre of Regional Mexican music. MarÃa Isabel López RodrÃguez (born 4 January 1995), known professionally as MarÃa Isabel, is a Spanish singer and songwriter. She is best known for winning the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2004 with the song "Antes muerta que sencilla". Biography MarÃa Isabel was born in Ayamonte, Province of Huelva, Spain. She demonstrated an interest in dancing and singing from a very young age. The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2004 was the second edition of the annual Junior Eurovision Song Contest for young singers aged eight to fifteen. It was held on 20 November 2004, in HÃ¥kons Hall, Lillehammer, Norway and lasted 2 hours and 15 minutes. It was presented by Stian Barsnes Simonsen and Nadia Hasnaoui, broadcast in twenty countries and viewed by 100 million people. Eighteen countries participated, and participated for the first time. Los Horóscopos de Durango were a Regional Mexican band. In their first years, they were a grupero band, but they eventually changed to the duranguense style when the genre was becoming mainstream. Duranguense
Duranguense is a genre of Regional Mexican music. It is a hybrid of Technobanda and Tamborazo. Its popularity peaked in the mid to late 2000s among the Mexican and Mexican American community in the United States, as well as in many parts of Mexico. The instruments held over from tamborazo are the saxophone, trombone, and tambora, while the instruments held over from technobanda are the electronic keyboard (more specifically the Korg X3, Korg N364, which are used for the main melody and the Yamaha DX7, which is used by many bands for the bass section), drum set, and vocals. The electronic keyboard is emphasized in Duranguense, giving the genre its own signature riff. The genre popularized the dance style, Pasito Duranguense.
