Antelope Valley Union High School District
The Antelope Valley Union High School District (A.V.U.H.S.D.) is located in the Antelope Valley area of California, in northern Los Angeles County. The union high school district includes eight public high schools, one trade school, and two continuation high schools in the cities of Palmdale and Lancaster and their immediate suburbs. The district also recently opened three middle schools (grades 7-8). Two are in Palmdale & one is in Quartz Hill. The district also provides online instruction via their Virtual Academy for grades 7-12. The office of Virtual Academy is in Quartz Hill. The main district office is located in Lancaster. Knight High School
Knight High School is a four-year public high school located in Palmdale, California and is part of the Antelope Valley Union High School District. Knight High was the 7th general education school to join the district. The high school opened its doors to freshmen in August 2003 and these same freshmen were the first class to graduate, graduating on May 31, 2007. The high school was named after test pilot and politician William J. "Pete" Knight. The school has received much recognition for its band program which has placed first in many events. Palmdale is a city in northern Los Angeles County in the U.S. state of California. The city lies in the Antelope Valley region of Southern California. SOAR High School
Students On Academic Rise (SOAR) High School is an early college high school in Lancaster, California. The high school is a joint project of the Antelope Valley Union High School District and Antelope Valley College. SOAR stands for Students on Academic Rise. The school was founded in 2006. SOAR integrates the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) college-preparatory program as a mandatory elective course for all grade levels. Throughout its history, the school has been served by three principals: Michael Dutton, Chris Grado, and Dr. Stephanie Herrera. Two SOAR High School students represented SOAR's InvenTeam at the 2015 White House Science Fair. Quartz Hill High School is a public, co-educational high school located in Quartz Hill, California. Founded in 1964, it is the third oldest comprehensive high school in the Antelope Valley Union High School District. Campus The basic layout of Quartz Hill High School's campus is a courtyard surrounded by three quads and athletic buildings, a design that is typical of high schools in Southern California. The school's campus was originally designed for 1,800 students, but over two times that number are currently enrolled.
