Ante Brkić (born 31 March 1988) is a Croatian chess grandmaster. Chess career He won the Croatian Chess Championship in 2010 and has represented his country in a number of Chess Olympiads, including 2004 (2/4 on board 6), 2006 (3.5/5 on board 6), 2012 (2.5/6 on board 4), 2016 (6/10 on board 5) and 2018 (5/8 on board 4). He played in the Chess World Cup 2015, where he was defeated in the first round by Laurent Fressinet. In 2019, he won the 26th Zadar Open with 7/9 points. Laurent Fressinet (; born 30 November 1981 in Dax) is a French chess grandmaster. He is a two-time French Chess Champion. Career He won the French Chess Championship in 2010 and 2014. In 2012 he finished second in the European Individual Chess Championship in Plovdiv. Twice runner-up at the European Blitz Championship, in 2006 and 2007, and French Rapid Chess Champion in 2009, 2011 and 2022, Fressinet won the last leg of the French Rapid Grand-Prix in Villandry and finished second in the Grand-Prix Final in Ajaccio in 2012. Salem Abdulrahman Mohamed Saleh (born 4 January 1993) is an Emirati chess player. He was awarded the title of Grandmaster by FIDE in 2009. Saleh competed in the FIDE World Cup in 2011, 2013 and 2015. Biography Born in Sharjah, Saleh won three titles at the Asian Youth Chess Championships: under 14 in 2007, under 16 in 2008, and under 18 in 2009. He won the Emirati Chess Championship in 2008, 2011 and 2012, and the Arab Chess Championship in 2008, 2014 and 2018. Salem Saleh won the Arab Individual Blitz Chess Championship 2017 and 2018. Yuriy Hryhorovych Kryvoruchko ( uk, Юрій Григорович Криворучко; born 19 December 1986) is a Ukrainian chess player. He was awarded the title of Grandmaster by FIDE in 2006. Chess World Cup 2021
The Chess World Cup 2021 was a 206-player single-elimination chess tournament that took place in Sochi, Russia, beginning 12 July and ending 6 August 2021. It was the 9th edition of the Chess World Cup. The winner of this tournament was the Polish GM Jan-Krzysztof Duda, who won without losing any games either in classical chess or in the rapid tiebreakers. The two finalists (Duda and Sergey Karjakin) qualified for the Candidates Tournament 2022. The rest of the final eight, except Magnus Carlsen, qualified for the FIDE Grand Prix 2022. The Chess World Cup 2015 was a 128-player single-elimination tournament, single-elimination chess tournament held in Baku, Azerbaijan, from 10 September to 5 October 2015.
