Antares (album)
''Antares'' () is the only studio album by Chinese rapper and singer Kris Wu, released on November 2, 2018, through Ace Unit Culture Media. The album was preceded by the singles " Deserve" featuring Travis Scott, " Like That", and "Freedom" featuring Jhené Aiko. "Coupe" featuring Rich the Kid was released as an instant grat along with the album pre-order. The songs "Tough Pill" and "Hold Me Down" are the only songs on the album to be featured in both English and Mandarin versions. Background Along with the announcement of the album on the '' Complex'' radio show ''Open Late'' hosted by Peter Rosenberg, Wu stated on the show that he named the album for the star Antares, which means "heart of the scorpion", and in Chinese translates to "heart of the dragon". Wu Yi Fan (, ; born 6 November 1990), known professionally as Kris Wu, is a Canadian former rapper, singer, actor and model, and convicted serial rapist. He is a former member of South Korean-Chinese boy band Exo and its subgroup Exo-M under SM Entertainment, before leaving the group in 2014. Wu was active as a solo artist and actor in Mainland China, and had starred in several number-one box office hits including '' Mr. Six'' and '' Journey to the West: The Demons Strike Back'', which are among the highest-grossing Chinese films of all time in China. The album-equivalent unit, or album equivalent, is a measurement unit in music industry to define the consumption of music that equals the purchase of one album copy. This consumption includes streaming and song downloads in addition to traditional album sales. The album-equivalent unit was introduced in the mid- 2010s as an answer to the drop of album sales in the 21st century. Album sales more than halved from 1999 to 2009, declining from a $14.6 to $6.3 billion industry. The ''Billboard'' 200 is a record chart ranking the 200 most popular music albums and EPs in the United States. Antares is the brightest star in the constellation of Scorpius. It has the Bayer designation α Scorpii, which is Latinised to Alpha Scorpii.
