Anselmo Fernandez (actor)
Anselmo Fernandez Rodrigues (21 August 1918 in Lisbon, Portugal – 19 January 2000 in Madrid, Spain) was a Portuguese architect and football manager who led Sporting Clube de Portugal (Sporting CP) to victory in the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup in 1964 and was the architect of Sporting CP's Estádio José Alvalade inaugurated in 1956. Early life and career Anselmo Fernandez, born in Lisbon of Spanish descent, initially hoped for a career as football player with Lisbon's Sporting Clube de Portugal, however his health did not allow for it. He later engaged with Rugby at the club and emerged as a well regarded referee in that sport. His career focus then switched to architecture. His first major work was the original Estádio José Alvalade, which he built in conjunction with António Augusto Sá da Costa. The 61,000 capacity stadium of SCP opened in 1956. Estádio José Alvalade was a multi-purpose stadium in Lisbon, Portugal. The stadium was able to hold 52,411 people. It was inaugurated on 10 June 1956. Home venue of Sporting CP for 47 years, it was mostly used for football matches, but also athletics. It was named after Sporting founder José Alfredo Holtreman Roquette, known as ''José Alvalade'' after his family. José Alvalade borrowed money from his grandfather, the Viscount of Alvalade, in order to fund Sporting. It was closed in 2003, when the new Estádio José Alvalade opened. Denis Law (born 24 February 1940) is a Scottish former footballer who played as a forward. His career as a football player began at Second Division Huddersfield Town in 1956. After four years at Huddersfield, he was signed by Manchester City for an estimated transfer fee of £55,000, which set a new British record. Law spent one year there before Torino bought him for £110,000, this time setting a new record fee for a transfer involving a British player. Although he played well in Italy, he found it difficult to settle there and signed for Manchester United in 1962, setting another British record transfer fee of £115,000 (). José Alvalade
José Alfredo Holtreman Roquette (10 October 1885 – 19 October 1918), better known as José Alvalade, was the founder and first club member of Sporting CP in the early twentieth century, along with the brothers Stromp, Henrique de Almeida Leite Junior and the Gavazzo brothers. His grandfather, Viscount of Alvalade took charge as club’s president. Later, José would become Sporting’s 3rd president from 1910 to 1912. His Lordship Alfredo Augusto das Neves Holtreman, Viscount of Alvalade, was a Portuguese lawyer, land tenant, businessman and philanthropist. He was the first president of Sporting CP, from 1906 to 1910, sports club founded in 1906 by his grandson José Alvalade through the Viscount's donation of money and land. Grupo Desportivo Fabril is a Portuguese sports club established as Grupo Desportivo CUF do Barreiro (commonly known as CUF Barreiro), with CUF standing for the company Companhia União Fabril. Otto Martins Glória (9 January 1917 – 4 September 1986) was a Brazilian football coach. Career Glória was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, but had his greatest successes with Benfica in Portugal, guiding the club to nine national trophies. With the Nigeria national team he won the 1980 African Cup of Nations. In his first period with Benfica, the club was transformed to professional standards.
