Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church
Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, United States, was designed by architect Frank Lloyd Wright in 1956, and completed in 1961. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The church is one of Wright's last works; construction was completed after his death. The design is informed by traditional Byzantine architectural forms, reinterpreted by Wright to suit the modern context. The church's shallow scalloped dome echoes his Marin County Civic Center. Design According to Bruce Brooks Pfeiffer (Wright scholar and original archivist of the Frank Lloyd Wright Archives), "When he received a commission for a church for the Milwaukee Hellenic Community, Wright consulted his wife, who was brought up in the Greek Orthodox faith, about the predominant symbols of the church. The Annunciation Church is a Catholic church located at the corner of Texas Avenue and Crawford Street in Downtown Houston, Texas. History Annunciation Church sprung from the congregation at St. Vincent's, Houston's first Catholic church. In 1866, Father Joseph Querat and Galveston Bishop Claude M. Debuis believed the congregation was outgrowing the old building and started planning for a new one. The congregation chose the name for the planned building, "Church of the Annunciation." The original architect is unknown, but was dedicated on September 10, 1871. The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral of New England is a historic Greek Orthodox Church in Boston, Massachusetts. The Classical Revival church was designed by Hachadoor Demoorjian and built in 1923; design work of its interior included consultation with architect Ralph Adams Cram. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places as Greek Orthodox Cathedral of New England in 1988. The Leadville Historic District is in the mining town of Leadville, Colorado. The National Historic Landmark District includes 67 mines in the mining district east of the city up to the 12,000 foot (3658 m) level, and a defined portion of the village area.
