Robinvale Railway Line
The Robinvale railway line is a freight only country railway line in north-western Victoria, Australia. The line branches from the Mildura line at Dunolly, and at Inglewood the Eaglehawk – Inglewood line connects with the Piangil line outside Bendigo. The parallel Kulwin line junctions from the Robinvale line at Korong Vale then continues northward. History The line was opened from Inglewood to Korong Vale in 1882, and first extended towards Charlton as part of what is now the Kulwin line. The line from Korong Vale to Boort opened in 1883, and to Quambatook in 1894. It was extended to Ultima in 1900, to Chillingollah in 1909, to Manangatang in 1914, to Annuello in 1921, and Robinvale in 1924. In 1930, it was extended to Koorakee, New South Wales, as part of the proposed Lette railway line, although that section was never officially opened for traffic. Kooloonong, Victoria
Kooloonong is a locality in Victoria, Australia, located approximately 147 km from Mildura, Victoria and was on the Yungera railway line. Kooloonong was established as a soldier settlement area for returned servicemen from World War I. By the mid-1920s, it was a thriving township with a bush nursing hospital, government offices, a school, an RSL hall, a railway station and sporting facilities. The town has declined since then and now has only one occupied house, plus the rarely-used hall, a CFA shed and unused grain handling facilities. The railway north of Swan Hill was extended from Piangil to Kooloonong in March 1920 to support the soldier settlement farms in the area. For many years, water was carted to the location by train because there was no natural water supply. The line from Piangil was closed in December 1986. Manangatang ( ) is a town in north-west Victoria, Australia. At the , Manangatang had a population of 309. It is sometimes noted for its unusual name, from an Aboriginal term - "manang" meaning ''land'' and "kaaiti" meaning ''water''. Transport Manangatang is positioned on the Robinvale railway line. Manangatang was the terminus from 1914 until the line was extended in 1921. Passenger service to Manangatang railway station ceased in 1978. The Mallee Highway crosses the railway and the Robinvale– Sea Lake Road at Manangatang.
