''Anniemal'' is the debut album by Norwegian singer Annie. It was first released by 679 Recordings in September 2004. Annie began recording music in 1999 with her boyfriend, Tore Kroknes, who died in 2001. She returned to recording later that year, collaborating with Richard X, Röyksopp, and Timo Kaukolampi. The album combines Annie's thin, airy vocals with heavily layered beats. It is heavily influenced by 1980s dance-pop. Upon release, the album was successful in Norway. Blogs leaked tracks from ''Anniemal'' before it was released internationally, and publications from other countries soon praised the album for its blissful but melancholic sound. Before releasing the album internationally in 2005, Annie's record label 679 Recordings was not confident in the album's ability to achieve commercial success overseas, so it did not heavily promote ''Anniemal''. "The Greatest Hit" is a song by Norwegian singer Annie (singer), Annie. It was written and produced by Annie and Disc jockey, DJ Tore "Erot" Kroknes. The song sampling (music), samples Madonna (entertainer), Madonna's 1982 debut single "Everybody (Madonna song), Everybody", and she received a co-writing credit. The track was released as a limited edition Phonograph record, 7-inch single in 1999. It became an Underground music, underground club hit in Norway and the United Kingdom. Anne Lilia Berge Strand (born 21 November 1977), known professionally as Annie, is a Norwegian singer, songwriter, record producer and DJ. She began her recording career in 1999 with the underground hit single " The Greatest Hit" and gained international acclaim, particularly from music bloggers, for her debut album ''Anniemal'' (2004). After completing secondary school, Annie started DJing in Bergen, where she met house producer and soon-to-be boyfriend Tore Kroknes. Richard Philips, better known by his stage name Richard X, is a British songwriter and music producer. Gaining attention as a pioneer of the bootleg craze, Richard X has earned success as a producer and remixer. He has helmed hit singles for artists including Annie, Kelis, Liberty X, Rachel Stevens and Sugababes.
