'' Avengers: The Initiative'' was a comic book series from Marvel Comics than ran from April 2007 to June 2010. The series focused on the training facility located at Camp Hammond in Stamford, Connecticut, where pro-registration heroes were trained for the Fifty State Initiative. Following is a list of characters who were featured in the series. Camp Hammond staff Other guest instructors and staff included: Ares, Ms. Marvel, and Wonder Man as part of the Mighty Avengers. Batroc the Leaper previously worked out of the Virginia training facility, and was set to be moved to Camp Hammond as a Martial arts instructor. He later returned to his life of crime as a mercenary. Gargoyle served as an Initiative instructor before retiring. Delroy Garrett, Jr. is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Originally known as Triathlon, he is the second character to use the name the 3-D Man. Publication history Triathlon first appeared in ''Avengers'' vol. 3 #8 (Sept. 1998) and was created by Kurt Busiek and George Pérez. The character appeared as a member of the Agents of Atlas in 2011. Fictional character biography Delroy Garrett is an Olympic track medalist whose career was derailed when it was found he used steroids. Stingray (Walter Newell) is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Publication history The character first appears as Walter Newell in ''Tales to Astonish'' #95 (Sep. 1967) and as Stingray in ''Prince Namor, the Sub-Mariner'' #19 (Nov. 1969). Roy Thomas publicly stated the characters creation, "I needed a villain for Sub Mariner, and wanted an underwater type (just like others I devised, like Tiger Shark and Orka the Human Killer Whale and Commander Kraken) who created a costume for his sub-sea life.
