Annegret Soltau
Annegret Soltau (born 16 January 1946) is a German visual artist, born in Lüneburg, Germany. Her work marks a fundamental reference point in the art of the 1970s and 1980s. Photomontages of her own body and face sewn over or collaged with black thread are the most well-known works of the German artist. Education From 1967 to 1972 she studied with Hans Thiemann, Kurt Kranz, Rudolf Hausner and David Hockney at the Academy of Fine Arts Hamburg in Germany, 1972 at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna in Austria. In 1973 she received a DAAD scholarship for Milan in Italy. Life and work Since 1973 she has freelanced, first in the sphere of painting and graphic art, then from 1975 actions ("permanente demonstration") and first photography and videoworks. Palazzo Strozzi
Palazzo Strozzi is a palace in Florence, Italy. History The construction of the palace was begun in 1489 by Benedetto da Maiano, for Filippo Strozzi the Elder, a rival of the Medici who had returned to the city in November 1466 and desired the most magnificent palace to assert his family's continued prominence and, perhaps more important, a political statement of his own status. A great number of other buildings were acquired during the 1470s and demolished to provide enough space for the new construction. Giuliano da Sangallo provided a wood model of the design. Filippo Strozzi died in 1491, long before the construction's completion in 1538. Duke Cosimo I de' Medici confiscated it in the same year, not returning it to the Strozzi family until thirty years later. The palace faces the historical Via de' Tornabuoni. The Photographers' Gallery was founded in London by Sue Davies opening on 14 January 1971, as the first public gallery in the United Kingdom devoted solely to photography. Gabriele Schor
Gabriele Schor, born in Vienna in 1961, is an Austrian writer, art critic and curator. She is a specialist of the feminist avantgarde of the 1970s. Biography Gabriele Schor studied philosophy in Vienna and art history in San Diego. The subject of her doctorate is the sculptor Alberto Giacometti. She worked for the Tate Gallery in London. In 1996, she curated the exhibition on Barnett Newman at the Staatsgalerie Stuttgart and at the Albertina in Vienna. She worked as a correspondent and art critic for the ''Neue Zürcher Zeitung'' in Vienna for seven years. Museum Tinguely
The Museum Tinguely is an art museum in Basel, Switzerland that contains a permanent exhibition of the works of Swiss painter and sculptor Jean Tinguely. Located in the Solitudepark by the Rhine, the museum was designed by the Ticinese architect Mario Botta and opened on 3 October 1996. A variety of Tinguely's kinetic art sculptures are on permanent display, complemented with illustrations, photographs and other documents related to the artist's life and work. Tinguely's wife, Niki de Saint Phalle has donated 55 sculptures to the museum. Mjellby Art Museum (''Mjellby konstmuseum'') is situated outside Halmstad, Sweden. There is an art gallery featuring exhibitions of diverse content – everything from 1900s modernists to current contemporary art.
