Anne Poiret
Anne Poiret (born December 6, 1976) is a French journalist and documentary filmmaker. She won the 2007 Albert Londres Prize and the 2022 International Emmy Awards for best documentary. She is an expert in topics related to war and post-war situations. Education After completing a B.A. in history from the University of Paris X Nanterre, Anne Poiret studied at the Paris Institute of Political Studies. She graduated in 1999 and the following year completed coursework toward a master's degree in journalism at New York University. Career Poiret has worked for various editorial offices and news magazines, including ''C dans l’air'' on France 5, "Envoyé Spécial" on France 2, as well as "Arte reportage" on Arte. She writes and directs documentaries about topics such as: aftermath of armed conflicts, human and political consequences of wars, and actions of the United Nations and other international non-governmental organizations. Albert Londres Prize
The Albert Londres Prize is the highest French journalism award, named in honor of journalist Albert Londres. Created in 1932, it was first awarded in 1933 and is considered the French equivalent of the Pulitzer Prize. Three laureates are awarded each year. The three categories are : "best reporter in the written press", "best audiovisual reporter" and "best reporting book". History On the death of Albert Londres, on 16 May 1932, his daughter, Florise Martinet-Londres, decided to create an award in his memory. From 1933, the Albert Londres prize is awarded every year on May 16, to a young journalist under the age of forty. Florise Martinet-Londres died in 1975. Albert Londres Award
Albert Londres (1 November 1884 – 16 May 1932) was a French journalist and writer. One of the inventors of investigative journalism, Londres not only reported news but created it, and reported it from a personal perspective. He criticized abuses of colonialism such as forced labour. Albert Londres gave his name to a journalism prize, the Prix Albert-Londres, for Francophone journalists. Biography Londres was born in Vichy in 1884. After finishing secondary school, he went to Lyon in 1901 to work as a bookkeeper, then moved to Paris in 1903. He wrote occasional articles for newspapers from his native region, and published his first poetry in 1904. The same year, he started as correspondent in Paris for the Lyon newspaper ''Le Salut Public''. The Cubs of the Caliphate ( ar, اشبال الخلافة, Ashbal al-Khilafah) referred to a programme by the Islamic State (IS) to recruit and train Children in the military, child soldiers between the ages of 10 and 15. The "Cubs" were active from 2014 to 2017; after this point, the programme was seemingly discontinued as IS-Central's Territory of the Islamic State, territorial control in Syria and Iraq collapsed. However, systematic child soldier training was revived by IS in 2021/22.
