Anne Marie Lütken
Anna Maria (Anne Marie) Lütken (1916–2001) was a Danish painter who is remembered above all for her distinctive figure paintings, frequently based on her mother, her grandmother or herself as models. She also painted scenes of nature, including landscapes from Vendsyssel in the north of Jutland. In 2008, her works were presented together with those of Agnete Bjerre in an exhibition at Vrå where she was a member of the cultural association from 1956. Biography Born on 29 September 1916 in Årby near Kalundborg, Anna Maria Lütken was the daughter of the writer (1893–1977). From 1947, she studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts under Vilhelm Lundstrøm, Kræsten Iversen and Elof Risebye, graduating in 1955. While still studying, she exhibited her works from 1951, contributing to the Charlottenborg Spring Exhibitions (1953–1975) and Vrå exhibitions (1953–1984), and to many other shows. A figure painting is a work of fine art in any of the painting media with the primary subject being the human figure, whether clothed or nude. Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition
The Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition (''Charlottenborg Forårsudstilling'') is an annual art exhibition in Copenhagen, Denmark. The event is held at the Charlottenborg Exhibition Building (''Kunsthal Charlottenborg''). Kunsthal Charlottenborg was erected in the former site of the Botanical Garden on a tract of land behind Charlottenborg Palace. Hellerup Cemetery
Hellerup Cemetery (Danish: Gellerup Kirkegård) is a cemetery in Hellerup in the northern suburbs of Copenhagen, Denmark. It is located on Bernstorffsvej and was inaugurated on 4 February 1912. The cemetery serves Gentofte Municipality and the northnmost part of Copenhagen Municipality. History The establishment of a cemetery in Hellerup was first proposed in 1907 and Gentofte Municipality acquired a piece of land from Ibenske Jorder and laid it out as a burial site the following year. In 1912, after the local land owners' association had complained about the "scandalous state" of the site, the municipality commissioned a landscape architect to redesign the cemetery which was inaugurated on 4 February that same year. The cemetery has later been extended several times, most recently in 1920 when a 15,000 square metre piece of land on Rygårds Allé was added to the grounds. Elof Risebye
Elof Christian Risebye (3 April 1892 – 11 July 1961) was a Danish painter. He became known as the "painter of grief" (''sorgens maler'') for his paintings of coffins and corpses in the 1930s. Biography Born in the Frederiksberg district of Copenhagen, from 1905 to 1913 he lived in the United States, studying at the Art Institute of Chicago (1910–12). On returning to Denmark, he attended the school of painting at Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts as a student of Viggo Johansen and Julius Paulsen. From 1919 to 1921, he studied under Joakim Skovgaard at the school of decoration. Riseby decorated several churches with frescos, including Sindal (1921), St. Mark's Church, Copenhagen, St Mark's, Copenhagen (1924) and Gedser Church (1925). In 1925, he helped Skovgaard decorate Lund Cathedral with mosaics and, in the 1930s, he contributed to Einar Nielsen's mosaics in the Royal Danish Theatre's new Stærekassen building. Vendsyssel
Vendsyssel () is the northernmost traditional district of Denmark and of Jutland. Being divided from mainland Jutland by the Limfjord, it is technically a part of the North Jutlandic Island, but the name often used informally for the entire island. Vendsyssel is part of the North Denmark Region. Vendsyssel neighbours Hanherred to the southwest and Himmerland to the south, across the Limfjord. Whether the island Læsø is also a part of Vendsyssel, is a matter of definition. The major towns of Vendsyssel are Hjørring, Frederikshavn, Brønderslev, Sæby, Hirtshals, Løkken, Nørresundby and, on its northern tip, Skagen. Kræsten Iversen
Kristen "Kræsten" Iversen (, 26 January 1886 - 9 August 1955) was a Danish artist who is remembered both for his paintings and his painted glass windows. He was a member of the Bornholm school of painters and a professor at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts . Biography Iversen was born in the parish of Holsted in Vejen Municipality, Denmark. He was the son of Niels Laurids Pedersen (1848–1902) and Grethe Hansen (1851–1910). Between 1904-1905, He trained at the Copenhagen Technical College. He exhibited several time during 1910-1918 at the Artists' Autumn Exhibition. In 1919, he exhibited four works at the Charlottenborg Spring Exhibition. In 1920, he visited Bornholm for the first time where the natural colours and distinctive light influenced his landscapes .
