Anne Jules De Noailles
Anne Jules de Noailles, 2nd Duke of Noailles (5 February 16502 October 1708) was one of the chief generals of France towards the end of the reign of Louis XIV, and, after raising the regiment of Noailles in 1689, he commanded in Spain during both the War of the Grand Alliance and the War of the Spanish Succession, and was made marshal of France in 1693. Family Son of Anne de Noailles and his wife, Louise Boyer, he acceded to the title of duc de Noailles on his father's death in 1678. He was married to Marie-Françoise de Bournonville, with whom he had children. Adrien-Maurice, his eldest surviving son, succeeded him upon his death. One of his daughters, Marie Victoire, married one of King Louis XIV's illegitimate sons, the Comte de Toulouse. The title of Duke of Noailles was a French peerage created in 1663 for Anne de Noailles, Count of Ayen. History Noailles is the name of a prominent French noble family, derived from the castle of Noailles in the territory of Ayen, between Brive and Turenne in Limousin, and claiming to date back to the 11th century. The family did not obtain fame until the 16th century, when its head, Antoine de Noailles (1504–1562), became admiral of France and was ambassador in England during three important years (1553–1556), maintaining a gallant but unsuccessful rivalry with the Spanish ambassador, Simon Renard. Philippe Jules Mancini, 8th Duke of Nevers (1641–1707) was the nephew of Cardinal Mazarin, chief minister of France immediately after the death of King Louis XIII. He was the brother of the five famous Mancini sisters, who, along with two of their female Martinozzi cousins, were known at the court of King Louis XIV of France as the Mazarinettes. Family Philippe was born in Rome in 1641. He was the son of Baron Lorenzo Mancini, an Italian aristocrat who was also a necromancer and astrologer. Louis de Pardaillan de Gondrin (July 1688 – 22 February 1712) was a French nobleman. He was a grandson of Madame de Montespan. He was known as the ''marquis de Gondrin'' during his lifetime. Biography Born at the Château of Montespan, he was the eldest of two sons born to Louis Antoine de Pardaillan de Gondrin and his wife Julie Françoise de Crussol (1669–1742), daughter of the Duke of Uzès. His younger brother Pierre was the Duke-Bishop of Langres. As the eldest, he was expected to succeed to be the head of the House of Pardaillan de Gondrin. Known as the Marquis of Gondrin in his lifetime, he was outlived by his father and as such never succeeded to the Duchy of Antin which was created in 1711 by Louis XIV.
